Inspired by a photo of Philip Roth by Olaf Blecker. Seen here, with lighting diagram
Strobist: Much like the diagram; tiny softbox on 430ex high and camera right, shoot-through umbrella with 580exII high and camera left. Both about 6.5-7' away, with similar power.
A little Photoshop to desaturate and enhance detail. Speedlights just don't have the watts to shoot f22 like Olaf.
Flickr is doing a terrible thing to the shirt texture on resize, see the original size.

Hi all - a little glimpse of moi - screened, louvered, and reflected...
;-)
(I was actually focusing on the patterns in the screen and didn't realize I was in the photo until after I took it. Funny)
* AB800, Softlighter II, CL high near axis
* LP160 speedlight, shoot-thru umbrella, CR, just behind me

"Self" is about so much; it has many aspects. For this weeks theme I choose to focus on a current graphic design pattern that has caught my attention; trees that are pruned to have a stubby like look to the branches, and the layering of these photos with ones taken of mySELF.
Heavy post on this one in both lightroom and photoshop. I'm still not sure if I like this one. It was the only one of the day that worked out.
What do you think?

I found this old dirty mirror around the streets, but I kinda liked the vintage effects it gives to the image.
This is a photo of a pair of my husband's dog tags and our wedding bands placed on army uniform he left behind.
I have planned a self portrait against this blind for months but I had to wait for summer so the sun shines against the window and a fine morning so the sunlight shone through the bushes outside the window giving the stronger shadows from the blind. This morning conditions were right so I embarked on another of the self-portrait challenges which always amuse me in their execution. It is also Friday which means I have time to post edit which in this image includes: RAW conversion, noise filter, Gaussian blur (both erased over eyes and teeth, unsharp mask, crop. I also used a standard lamp to my left to lighten the dark side of the shot.
