This took nine hours of editing time, I have a job tomorrow morning and I have been up until a quarter to one to finish making this and upload it. I hope that people can appreciate the amount of time and effort that went into making this image. Below is a comparison of what I started with and my final result, both are very different images. I know this isn't one of my happy images, but I am trying to do some new stuff and explore a bit, this is my first try at editing an image to this extent. By the way, this is the same image.

With the amount of editing, its hard to start at anything, I used remote live view to focus the lens. I was lit with a 60" Westcott reflective umbrella. I used the high pass filter many times to get my results. This image is also tone mapped. It is also kind-of a composite in a way, because of the way I edited it.

In my practice I use a variety of mediums to make art and I wanted to create an image that could illustrate this. While experimenting with ways to combine drawing and photography, I created this self portrait which seamlessly unites the two. This artwork is an example of the endless possibilities that art has to offer in our modern digital age.

Did a self portrait in a similar fashion as Marleth's mosaic portrait from the Home Of The Brick with the extra pieces left over though additional plates for the yellow and light gray were needed to complete it...

Self-portrait

A self-portrait is a representation of an artist, drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by the artist. Although self-portraits have been made by artists since the earliest times, it is not until the Early Renaissance in the mid 1400s that artists can be frequently identified depicting themselves as either the main subject, or as important characters in their work. With better and cheaper mirrors, and the advent of the panel portrait, many painters, sculptors and print makers tried some form of self-portraiture. The probable example by Jan van Eyck of 1433 is the earliest known panel self-portrait. He painted a separate portrait of his wife, and he belonged to the social group that had begun to commission portraits, already more common among wealthy Netherlanders than south of the Alps. The genre is venerable, but not until the Renaissance, with increased wealth and interest in the individual as a subject, did it become truly popular
