So I think I'm starting another 365 project. I feel like I need it right now. Being in art school, I find myself only producing work for the sake of fulfilling an assignment. And that doesn't feel good. So here's to Day 1. I would be lying if I said I wasn't reluctant to give this another go, but I think I'm up for the challenge...maybe...we'll see.

For these pieces I decided to experiment with photoshop in response to the idea of self reflection. I chose to layer the face and body in order to convey the constant obsession for perfection.

This is a reflection photograph. I like to call them the poor-man's double exposure but economy has nothing to do with any of this.
This was my graded unit from year 1 of HND Applied Arts and it was to do with the theme of inside out and I did mine on peoples spiritual animals. It was really interesting to me because of the native Americans had believed that everyone has a spirit animal that guides them. I decided to combined peoples faces with what animals they thought best suited them. I then hand dyed the dress and then hand sewed the dress together. It was my first attempt at doing a handmade dress and I found it to be fun as well as fiddly too.
Asking myself the question, "Who am I?" accompanied a great deal of self reflection. Two ways in which I did so was first off by creating my artworks, the time I spent creating was also time I spent thinking. The other place I did so was the beach and along the coast. The beach is a place of serentity and calmness that allows me to not feel so overwhelmed by all my questions and thoughts.
The colors I use reflect how I felt reflecting at the beach mostly during hot summer afternoons. The warmth of the sun and bright blue of the ocean reflecting onto the sky.
