Home after 11 days away. It was good to walk the bluff and feel the day. There were displays everywhere, but the poppy pods stood out with high noon light creating fabulous shadows. #cy365 'display'

Wattle seedpod

In January there was a little flower (top right).

It grew into a 10cm seedpod and today, in autumn, it suddenly opened up so that the wind could take the many seeds to a destination.

Each seed hangs of a plume of ultra thin fiber like material and when backlit all rainbow colours appear, bottom right.

Seedpods of Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua).

Removing the background renders these red yucca (Hesperaloe parviflora) as an interesting design. Sometimes I get to try things because I can.

The white fleshy material on the seeds is called elaiosome and its only purpose is to attract ants which help disperse the seeds and even carry/bury them into the soil. Thousands of plants have seeds with elaiosome, but in my native wildflower garden it's most noticeable on celandine poppy and bloodroot.

have a wonderful day !

wild radish gone by -- they have such wonderful shapes...

Acacia, I think,

on a fallen gum tree

Found this heavenly explosion of seeds on a plant I can't identify. It was hiding at the edge of some thick brush in an open space area. I was on my knees to get the shot, totally absorbed in how interesting this was, when I heard a rustling of leaves and a twig snap from inside the bushes. The image of the warning sign posted at the entrance of the open space to beware of coyotes flashed through my brain and I sprang up, grabbed my backpack and skedaddled out of there! It was probably just a rabbit, but I don't want to be carried off by a coyote!

Brussels.

A sunny day in june

The Florists’ Gardens are certainly among the most beautiful green areas of the Brussels region. Hosting old greenhouses from the time of Leopold II who has initiated this park, the Florist’s Gardens also offer a magnificent view on the city and are a harbor of piece close to one of the most visited attractions of Brussels, the Atomium.

The Florists’ Gardens can be reached via the Sobieski park (close to metro Stuyvenbergh).

Seed pods of the Bottlebrush tree, much enlarged, brought home from the dog walk.

Milkweed pods are so soft & silky, and when they burst open, it only takes the slightest breeze for the seeds to start to blow around for next year’s crop.

Another aspect of autumn.

Normally the term “going to seed” has a negative connotation, meaning to decline, go downhill, age out, etc., but with peonies, I mean it in the nicest possible way.

I think peony seed pods are absolutely charming, giving the spring bloomers a whole other season of interest.

At summer’s end, when they split open to reveal their shiny blue and red seeds, wow!

Very impressive!

I especially like the open seed pods of the woodland peony (Paeonia obovata), with shiny blue to blue-black fertile seeds and brilliant red infertile ones.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

I love what light does to Honesty.

I found these seed pods not sure what they are from?

but I wanted to take some photos first...

Lumen print (contact print) developed outdoors, fixed in darkroom.

Spores waiting on the wind to spread them far and wide.

This is a photo of two amaryllis seed pods.
