The quillworts are bizarre little plants. Beautifully heterosporous, a trait they share with daffodils, roses, and oak trees.

It's a month overdue but I'm finally baking my birthday cake for tonight :) Polly is excited because she knows that the delicious butter cake is going to be filled with whipped cream and seedless strawberry jam :) She's hoping I'll allow her to lick the cream bowl - and I intend to - if my husband doesn't get to it first - LOL!!

Correction in Photoshop: removing lots and lots of dust. (The majority of which I believe is stuck somewhere in the Nikkor-P, with only a minority due to self-scanning of the negatives.)

Stale "Seedless Rye Sandwich Thins" repurposed, lightly brushed both sides with olive oil

 

A smear of pizza sauce

Provolone slices on some, shredded sharp cheddar on others

Sliced yellow sweet pepper

Sliced red mini pepper

Pepperoni

Hard Italian salami

Fried bacon

Wilted baby spinach

Minced green onion

 

Baked in toaster oven at highest temperature.

 

They were awesome!

 

Kiamoy is a kind of sweet and sour dry pickled plum. It's something I always enjoyed as a child, but my mind was boggled when we encountered the seedless kind in one of Taipei's night markets. Had to grab a bag for me and a few more for pasalubong/omiyage.
