A Quick divergence from the recent posts I've been making.
I attended the Professional Photographer's of America Expo in Nashville (January 2026). Here is a set of shots of one of the studio / expo models.

"Come, sit by the fire with seductive penguin. . . I have my faux snow leopard throw, my shearling armchair, I've put some fish in the refrigerator and the champagne's on ice . . . I'll just put on a little Barry White."
This cute little critter and his accompanying throw and chair are courtesy of a window display for Pottery Barn Kids.
another from finnich glen on sunday last. this is looking back up the gorge and shows the end of the 2nd narrow section (which has a tree trunk wedged in it). it's a cool, mysterious place. this shot was looking into the sun and had an inverted soft grad nd8 filter to keep those foreground rocks in check... just wish i'd been able to shade the lens a bit better... again my excuse is the fact that this was a pretty aquatic trip and I was cutting as many corners as possible so instead of screwing the cokin filter onto the front I was holding the grad filter by hand, shielding the lens with my other hand and hoping for the best! definitely one to try and improve on next time...

Seductive and deceptive, the King Spider Orchid (Caladenia pectinata) of southern Western Australia lures its wasp pollinator (Zaspilothynnus nigripes) through a remarkable chemical trickery. The orchid's floral scent has evolved to mimic the sex pheromones of the female wasp. The male wasp (pictured) is irresistably drawn to the flower and during futile attempts at mating it carries out the crucial service of pollinating the plant. Sexual deception is just one of the many ways in which orchids use floral mimicry to achieve pollination.

This is not a pre plan photo shoot actually, I was on my way to KLCC for a different reason, I call Chot, saying that I'm on my way to KLCC, then the rest is history. We have lunch together with the Model, ( she is not a full time model ). The session was very short because we used our lunch time for the shoot, so there's nothing much I can post here.
After so many crazy shots, I asked him to give me some normal, candid portrait material. Then he proceeded to undress everyone in the room with his eyes.
Black sheet background with one shop light shining from the model's right.
These photos are from the 5th weekend (Sunday), the Roman Bacchanal, at the Texas Renaissance Festival in November 2013. We were only able to attend one day on this weekend but it was an incredible experience. There was a special group, the Benefit Betties, all wearing chain mail - that was a special treat. The shooting conditions were perfect - all in all it was a great day.
The TRF is located near Todds Mission, TX, about 50 miles NW of Houston. I understand it is the biggest Renaissance Festival in the US and probably the best one too!
I finally had a chance to meet Lea Dawn - we talked about shooting for ages but finally meet at our group shoot at Cuddy Park, Anchorage, Alaska, in June 2011 - and even then I only had a few minutes to shoot with her!! We're going to change this in the future and I hope to do a pin-up shoot with here in the very near future.
Strobist info: I used a Canon 580 EX II unit off camera, shooting through a white umbrella; I set the 580 at 1/2 to 1/4 power, placed about 10-15 feet away from Lea. I triggered the units with Cybersync equipment.
