4.17.11 - Western Conference Quarterfinals Game Three: Vancouver Canucks 3, Chicago Blackhawks 2
My seats for the evening - they were pretty good if I say so myself.
Hand held and "thinking steady" with my camera on a rock. Only a tiny hint of all the civilization that surrounds the park that can be accessed right off Main St.
A detail shot of some of the falsework and rigging equipment that will be used to slide the old bridge section out,.

These sections will eventually link to form the new I-64 bridge being built near South Charleston WV. It appears to be a very difficult and dangerous way to construct a bridge. Each section looks like it could tip over at any time. They place molds on each end and then poor the concrete to add onto each side at about the same time to keep the structure balanced. It's a little blurry because I was traveling at about 70MPH.
who says you shouldn't climb out a window of the hotel your staying at just for a good photo?
this is a dual view of SW Broadway from the ledge of Hotel Lucia in Portland.
Seating Section D was on the far side of the main standing area.

Dad is 3rd from right, these guys were the volunteers who got the cushy job of looking after the officers horses when they eventually stopped their advance in Germany.
Parts of my twelve mile mountain bike ride today were a bit toasty. But at least I didn't need to be on the lookout for snakes.

The new section of pipe went in OK. Unfortunately, another hunk of pipe cracked a little when it was connected to the new hunk.
This was discovered shortly after the water system was filled back up. Thankfully, there was no immediate leak, but it does need to be fixed.
So, the system is being drained again.
And the plumbers are on a quest for what appears to be a difficult to find size copper pipe.
They've been gone for about 40 minutes now. The water system still hasn't finished draining out.
94th Blood Family & Friends Reunion - Aug 11, 2018. The 94th Annual Blood Family and Collateral Families and Friends Reunion was held on August 12, 2018 at the Amigo Centre outside Sturgis, Michigan. Once owned by the Perrin family, it was where the reunions are now held. The Perrin family married into the Blood family, as did other local families. The Family Reunion was begun in 1924 by Grace Blood Adams, the year that her son was born. The 2018 event began in a request for families to sign in & donate toward next year’s Reunion expenses, and asking the family members attending to give an accurate number of attendees. A potluck meal was at 1pm, then a business meeting with President Doug Veasy giving an introduction of families and how they are related to to the Bloods. 2017 meeting minutes were read by the Secretary, Ruth Ann McKale Rockwell. They voted to hold the 2018 Reunion on the 3rd Sunday of August - the 12th at the Amigo Centre. Then the families gathered for group photos. Just the Facts: The oldest attendee was 87 year old Sue Blood Stroup, next was 81 year old Carl Mauck and 80 year old Harlan Blood. The youngest attendee was Kensington Mynheiv, born July 2, 2018. Traveled furthest to attend was Richard Griffin. Traveled Closest to attend was Donna Perrin. ABOUT THE BLOOD Family:
They came to U.S. from UK & many inventions were made by family members like washing machines embalming fluid and even a car: the Blood Mobile. Early family members lived in the Bonneyville Mill area and ran the Mill.

A visit to Berrington Hall near Leominster in Herefordshire. The dome was being restored so part of the building was under scaffolding inside and out (including up the main staircase).
Berrington Hall is a country house located about 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Leominster, Herefordshire, England. During the 20th century it was the seat of the Cawley family.
It is a neoclassical country house building that Henry Holland designed in 1778-81 for Thomas Harley. It has a somewhat austere exterior, but the interiors are subtle and delicate. Berrington Hall is home to the Elmar Digby furniture collection, paintings by, amongst others, Thomas Luny (1759–1837), and the Charles Paget Wade costume collection from Snowshill, which can be viewed by appointment. The 'below stairs' areas and servants' quarters that are open to the public include a Victorian laundry and Georgian dairy. Berrington has been in the care of the National Trust since 1957 and is, along with its gardens, open to the public.
Berrington features Capability Brown's last landscape design. A notable feature is the ha-ha wall, which was subject to extensive renovation in the late 20th century by local craftsmen. Berrington Pool, a lake and island, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Berrington had been in the possession of the Cornewall family since 1386, but was sold in 1775 to Thomas Harley, a banker and government contractor who in 1767 had been Lord Mayor of London. He commissioned the rebuilding in 1778-1781 of the present Berrington Hall in place of the previous old house. He made it available to his daughter Anne and her new husband George Rodney, the son of Admiral Rodney. After Harley's death the house descended in the Rodney family for 95 years.
In 1901 the Manchester businessman Frederick Cawley MP, later Baron Cawley, purchased the estate. In 1957 the 3rd Lord Cawley transferred it to the Treasury, which passed in on to the National Trust. Lady Crawley was allowed to remain in occupation until her death in 1978.
It was classified as a Grade I listed building in 1959.
Curved section of the walled garden at Berrington Hall.
These views through the viewpoint on the gate to the right. But from Summer 2019 it is now possible to head into there and view it up close.
A rare historical curved section of the walled garden designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and built in 1783. One of only two gardens in existence.
Water is a little deeper here. Many are now using tents instead of wood shanties. The weather goes from cold to warm repeatedly. There used to be ice here for months at a time but not any more.
Section 6 of the Saxon Shore Way, a long distance footpath running from Gravesend in Northwest Kent to Rye in East Sussex. Sections one through to five completed. This section being 23 miles and took approximately eight hours and takes one through some of the most beautiful and spectacular landscapes Kent has to offer. Today was all about documenting this fabulous walk with a camera rather than a photo shoot!
Chalk cliff's above Kingsdown
Mid-morning.
All along the cliff tops from a small village, Kingsdown to the Western Height's and Langdon Cliff's at Dover is a colourful carpet of species rich grassland hosting a wide variety of butterflies and mouths. On a short stretch alone I counted 12 different species in five minuets including the Chalkhill Blue, Common Blue, Marbled White, Brimstone, Large White, Orange Tip, Green-veined White, Red Admiral, Peacock, Painted Lady, Meadow Brown and Tortoiseshell! I wish I had more time and my 100mm lens.
