The Memory Incubator Project, 2008
What is the life span of a memory? How is memory translated? What does the loss of memory entail?
The Memory Incubator provides space for the preservation of memories through the act of sharing and exchange. Participants are asked to use the provided blank postcard to respond in anyway to one of the following questions: What important memory from your past is fading? What recent memory do you want to hold on to?
These memories are shared publicaly and privately. They are instilled with new life through others experiences and interpretations. Through this exchange we serve as each others memory incubator.
Your Memory Here: #39
The 1st time I kissed a girl. 7th grade. At my friend Ryan's house. In his basement about 25 of us slow dancing with the lights off. Our faces were close to each other. Heart beating. My face turns to the left - as I get close I felt the warmth of her breath. My friends told be it lasted 37 seconds but I can still feel the heat on my lips.

that time i fell and needed stitches
Your Memory Here: #4
i bought this thread in philadelphia. it,s my favorite brand of thread, but every place that carries it has a limited selection of colors. this is the only spool i'll ever have of this color, which is especially lite. there is only one thing which i have used this color on. i did this stitching in philadelphia. i spent most of my time on that trip working on this thing. when i returned home, the piece was turning into an altar that memorializes that trip. i was supposed to stay for two months, but i ended up only staying for ten days. after the most amazing week of my life, i realized i still was unhappy and broke up with my girlfriend and left. this thread can only remind me of that trip and how i spent it working and spending time with yu san, which was all i wanted, it was the total opposite of the previous trip, which did last two months and was pretty awful. i realized how difficult it is to be entirely happy. even with the things you love most, sharing this memory and giving this thread away seems strangely appropriate for the situation that i find myself in now. and it makes me feel very hopeful.
Black curling ribbon flowers woven on a peg loom. Three central elements of 2 poker chip bases wrapped with wire and thread, one penny set in a crocheted copper wire bezel.
Maybe Boris can restore some of these and put them back on the road when he gets rid of all the bendy buses....I just hope I'll never have to see that happen...
