An unskilled worker who that day was helping a roofer in el Barrio San Antonio. He will work a 10 hour day not counting travelling time for about 3 dollars. The price of gasoline is about 4 dollars a gallon so even a motor cycle would be a luxury.

I was taking photos of the colonial homes in el Barrio San Antonio and we chatted a while as he waited for another load of old tiles to be handed down to him. Fortunately food staples are very cheep so he and his family would not go hungry on his meager wage.
