I have a couple more from my visit to El Matador State Beach. Used the element of time to bring light into play as the sun had already gone down.

In this past year I have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people, some here on flickr, and others through other influences... and during this time I have become so in awe of the strength of so many of you who have had to or are presently dealing with huge physical, emotional or spiritual challenges. Many times I have been asked... why do you think God allowed this to happen??? I have no idea most of the time, but I am conficent that He won't give us more that we can handle... and that statement in it's self is hard to comprehend. In this past year I have learned more about faith and trust... because of the determination from many of you to overcome challenges and continue to live your life to it's full potential... and for your example and influence on my life I am forever grateful.

I am hoping this capture brings a smile to someone who needs encouragement today... God's not done with us...

i know, it's been awhile...

Back in May I was asked to photograph some bands playing at a Christian concert called the Revolution. I stood behind the throngs of attendees and used my 400 big daddy lens to capture the action on the stage from a safe distance... This was an example of modern photography at most events nowadays... only I'll bet my pictures look better... :)

It also protrayed how I have felt at times over the last 4 months... like I was looking at life through someone else's view screen. As you can see my view is quite blurry, but through his little camera phone the view of the world is quite clear... God has brought many of you into my life to help encourage me to move forward and to start using my focus ring again to see all that He has for me to still live for... thank you.

...especially shmily...

So I don't go crazy from boredom, I've started reprocessing old photos that I butchered the first time around.

I always find it incredibly inspiring to find so much joy and life in an animal that has had a hard start. Cheers to second chances!

Continuing the series, these two continue to warm my heart, even after so many months. Is it me or do they actually appear to be smiling at each other?

Prospect Lake, Memorial Park, Colorado Springs, CO - Certainly one of the most colorful entries in the festival, its reflection is stunning. I'm making a bit of a guess on the identification of this balloon as this family seems to have two identical (nearly?) hot air balloons:

One sweet little berry all by it's self in the middle of the warehouse floor... dropped and discarded from a pallet of it's brothers and sisters as they were prepared for shipment to some far off place. I couldn't help but lay next to it and record it's prediciment... and only my kids can tell you if I am the kind of person who helped in it's quest by eating it right there off of the floor. :0]

During this time of year it's easy to feel left out and discarded... so don't pass up the opportunity to reach out to any and every person that crosses your path during this holiday season... a couple of dear friends just did for me:)

Let's reflect on this past year remembering or triumphs & missteps, promises made & broken, because New Years is all about another chance! A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to laugh & love more! Let's stop worrying about "what if's" & start embracing what will be! Wishing everyone a fabulous 2019 & thanking all of you, my amazing flickr friends for your kind & generous loyalty!

I've had the opportunity while laid up with my injury to look at some of my earliest images and, since I'm growing in processing skill, redoing some of them.

This has always been one of my favorite macro images - a young honeybee at the center of a Margaret Merrill rose in the Duluth (MN) Rose Garden.

Originally taken 26 August 2010. Reprocessed 1 December 2011. Enjoy!

This crew was working hard clearing vegetation, but are on call at a moments notice to fight fires. Getting on one of these crews is supposedly very coveted and hard to do. It is a much better option working outdoors as a team than being locked up.

Are you guys looking forward to a happy sunny weekend? I know I am!!

My son text me about what looked like an awesome sunset developing and wanted to know if I had time to go shoot it with him. As we raced around to pick up his camera I could see the cloud bank on the horizon was thickening and was going to totally block out the sun... but we drove to the beach anyways and walked along the shore to take some pictures of the clouds because thats all that was left. Then as we stood there the clouds seemed to break apart just for us and a glimps of tomorrow broke through.

I prayed for a lot of specific things this past year... and not many things went as I wanted them. Today I slowed down long enough to reflect with a true friend some of the things that might have gone unnoticed, but were in fact direct answers to some of those prayers... sometimes the answers shine through clearly and other times it gets obscured with a few clouds. Today I realized that those clouds can be beautiful as well...

I am praying that we can all appreciate a few clouds in our lives this next year and look for God's answers in them as well...

Took a hike in Cascades Conservation Area today. I was a beautiful day for a hike and I thought I would take another shot at taking a panorama.

I know I'm boring you guys to death with these drab summer sunrise captures... :) I sort of promise that this might be the last one...

ok, ok large already...

Here's the deal... I invited over 10 flickr friends to go with the group that I took down to Playa Del Carmen last August. For a number of reasons only one went with me... my son. The other 41 people had a blast and are requesting a return trip. Not wanting to wear out my welcome, I'm taking the soccer group to Maui next August and returning to this little piece of paradise in August of 2011... so if anyone is interesting please let me know in advance and I will send you all of the information. Until then... enjoy the rays... :)

Seemed like an appropriate photo to bring back today…

“Second Chance” is an original WWII C-47. Transferred to the RAF prior to D-Day this C-47 saw action in both the Overlord Operation and Market Garden. Currently one of the few true C-47s still in stock military configuration. Flew with many Air Forces including Israel, Belgium and the RAF.

Sometimes all you need is some compassion from a kindred spirit, to make you feel at home.

Even though they all come to the orphanage wounded and hurt, in more ways than one, they always find love and acceptance here. And most importantly a foster family and feeling of belonging to a herd. The older orphans more often than not adopt the younger ones at the nursery, showering them with constant care & affection. The young ones may be born into a different herd, but this is the one that nourishes them, comforts them and makes them believe in second chances.

One of the major lessons was "look for the light" - and in this case, she's actually sitting in the middle of the flowerbed leaning against the wall. Killer window

light, as I'm sure you agree!

You playing with your favourite stick? Here let me help you with that.

Elephants are not very unlike human siblings, they laugh, they cry, they tumble, they share toys and they fight. But at the end of the day they remember they are part of a herd, one part of a whole and come what may they belong together.
