My path led me to the island of "La Plage Perdue". My grandfather asked me to visit the island.
From a long way off I saw the manor house, which looked very dilapidated. The door was half open and I felt a cold shiver. When I entered, I stumbled over a chest. On the floor I found a photo and a diary. The photo showed a rocking horse. I had one too when I was a child.
Then I read the last entry.
"In one month I will be of age and will leave this island. In the past few weeks, the storms have become more frequent and during the last storm, this freighter ran aground. Afterwards, the stones turned a greenish yellow and the vegetation gradually died off. Then mum and dad fell ill too. I was worried and one morning I found them both in bed, hugging each other. They had lost their struggle against the disease. I buried them on the west side of the island, looking at the sunset they loved so much.
If anyone should find this record, I advise not to stay on the island.
There is no life here anymore."
My breath caught and tears came to my eyes. I put the photo in the diary, closed it and walked quickly back to the boat.
As impressive as this mansion was overlooking the island, I followed the advice and headed back. The only witnesses to what had really happened were the diary and this one photo.
Sometimes the reflection is brighter than the original. I suggest that this image be viewed while listening to the wonderful Bonobo track with the same title...
.....no matter in which world, whether SL or RL.

well as the title says, its my entry for the Second Life Cracked photo contest . I dont think I ever had such a banging pain doing a picture before and I spent the last hours working on it. I'm still not satisfied with it but time's running and i need to enter it now i think.
I hope you like it.
Capturing images of Least Bitterns in flight can be tricky because their impetus and direction of launch is often unpredictable. An exception is during the three-to-four-week period when their hatchlings are on or near the nest, before they have fledged, when they are completely dependent on the parents for food. Then, both parents will follow a cautious but predictable pattern and a flight path that can be anticipated when conditions are right. The adult birds will venture fairly far from the nest area to gather baitfish, which they hold in their gullet prior to feeding the young. On their return, they first perch within sight of the nest and scope the area for any sign of predators (stage one). Once satisfied that the way is clear, they make a bee-line to a spot a few yards from the nest where they blend into to reeds (stage two). Finally, they make their way to the waiting hatchlings and regurgitate the food into their yawning beaks (stage three).
If I am lucky enough to find a nest in a conducive location, I can sit quietly in my kayak close enough to be within feet of the stage two flight path but far enough from the nest to avoid stressing the birds. In this case, luck was with me on Horsepen Bayou.
June 30th of this year we will live a second longer
A leap in time due to a change in the Astronomical Time
caused by slowing down the Earth's rotation.
The first "leap second", occurred in 1972 and, since then, was followed by others 25. A phenomenon that is due to the unpredictable nature of events, such as earthquakes, tides and weather, that is, all those elements that change the Earth's rotation and Consequently, the "flow" of time.
June 30th watches in the world will mark the 11:59:60 pm instead of the classic 11:59:59 pm. To this day, there will be 86401 seconds instead of 86400. The length of the day for all of us on Earth will have a second longer.
So we were able to lengthen the time!?!
And how come we can make things so difficult and we can not do other things much easier, how to stop these stupid wars ....

Many thanks for stopping here , for comments, favorites and invites in my latest works :)
I uploaded a photo this morning, 'Storm in the polder'. On that occasion, it was too cloudy to get the movements in the clouds nicely visible.
This afternoon, the sky opened up, so I went again to the same spot, for a second attempt. A lot more satisfying I think!
Despite the satisfying results, I learned a valuable lesson about the boundaries of my (cheap) filter set (Stealth Gear). Massive colour deviation into red, purple and magenta. Only heavy processing in Lightroom and Photoshop saved the picture. I'm anxious for your comments.. what do you think of it?
Can you hold on for a second, on second thought maybe two while I get my second phone! (It took me 27 tries to get the stop watch function to stop on exactly 1 second.)
From the west-side construction of the Hackerbrücke in Munich, Germany people often enjoy a sundowner. However, when the best seats are taken, one has to improvise and sit in the second row aka. the east-side.
