Scylla the mythical sea monster in the Straight of Messina. He lived in the caves on the cliff. Greek mythology warned sailors of the perils. On one side of the straight is Scylia the six headed monster. On the other side of the straight is Charybdis the giant whilrlpool. You must choose between the lesser of two evils or caught between a rock and a hard spot can be taken from this. Charybdis is the giant whirlpool in Greek mythology. It was in the Straight of Messina between Italy and Sicily. It was opposite of Scylla the sea monster that lived in the caves. Mariners had to choose between the six headed sea monster or the giant whirlpool. Today it is caught between a rock and a hard spot or the lesser of two evils. Scylla was Explored. I wanted to have a pic for the other half of the tale. I didn't have any giant whirlpool pics so I edited the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge pic and added a whirlpool. The kraken is a legendary sea monster of gigantic size and cephalopod-like appearance in Scandinavian folklore. I was going to play a guessing game here, but I have a feeling most of you would recognize what this is, so I might as well spill the beans. My hubby had some drill bits lying around and I thought they would make a great photographic subject. (Some of you might disagree :) ) I did several shoots, trying to get the focus just right, and also tried it with four different lenses and many different apertures. In the end, I had a few I liked, but decided to post this one.

While I took this photo, the vaccination troll Herbert Kickl was giving an inflammatory speech nearby, namely on Heldenplatz, in front of a gathering of covidiots. Kickl is the leader of the far-right FPÖ, in the first Kurz government he was Minister of the Interior.

Among other things, he has denied the effectiveness of vaccinations against COVID-19, and in November 2021 repeatedly recommended the anti-worm drug Ivermectin as a cure for the virus. There is no evidence that the drug has any effect in treating COVID-19 in humans. The Austrian Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has issued warnings about possible poisoning and strongly advises against self-treatment with it. Kickl's statements led to a surge in demand for Ivermectin, which sold out in many pharmacies. Sea Monsters. Timingilam is a huge mythological aquatic creature that can swallow whole whales in one bite.
This is a real sea-monster. I found it in the Dunedin museum (NZ, Sep 2016), in their dead animal collection in the attic. Stupidly I didn't photograph the info card saying what it was, and when/where it was found. But I'm sure it was in a spaceship at the bottom of the ocean.
This was my entry to Brickvention 2016, my first time making water effects, grasses and the first time making a large organic creature! I have little to no experience in any of these things, and for a first attempt, I think I did pretty well!

Additional Comments: Along the coastal borders of an Unnamed Kingdom lay a small trading dock on the edge of deep waters. It was here that fisherman and importers alike would come and sell their produce. But alas, unprovoked, a giant sea creature burst through the water and began to lay waste to this once peaceful fishing dock. The fort overseeing the trading were quickly alerted to the unfolding horror which unfolded before them....

I found this tangled monster at the high tide mark, on Himatangi Beach, NZ.
I guess it's made of plant material, washed into the sea via the rivers, mixed with ocean plants (and other things).

Back in March, on one of my too infrequent trips to the beach, I found this sea monster.
I watched him for a while and he seemed to be having a serious discussion with a driftwood tree stump, but that finished suddenly when a dirt bike went passed and he took off chasing it.
Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get photos of that ;-P

Hull Maritime Museums Project about the Mythical Sea Monster "The Kraken". There is several Art Installations of Tentacles and other things appearing on Buildings throughout the City, This one is in the same location as my previous photo.
In energetic twists and curls and elasticities, a wave completes its oceanic journey on an island shoreline.

We have a governor who wants to "blow up" the Chicago public schools and a mayor who doesn't seem to care about public school children and teachers too much more than that. It's a travesty that in a "world class city" filled with wealth we can't support all of our citizens with a quality and sustainable public education.
The powers that be would rather have a new 1.3 billion dollar airport runway that most residents don't want and a TIF slush fund than allow for kids with disabilities to have appropriate clinician supports and for public students to have access to libraries, art, and music. The SHAME!
