The scuplture is called Mitt hjärta i världen, literally translated My Heart in the World. It was made by Nils Dahlgren in 1989 and dedicated to Olof Palme, the Swedish Prime Minister who was murdered in 1986. The killer was never caught.
I shot the very same subject about two years earlier, when I had just started out as a photographer. Feel free to make a comparison.
"The Royal Menagerie is first referenced during the reign of Henry III. In 1251, the sheriffs were ordered to pay fourpence a day towards the upkeep for the King's polar bear; the bear attracted a great deal of attention from Londoners when it went fishing in the Thames. In 1254, the sheriffs were ordered to subsidise the construction of an elephant house at the Tower. The exact location of the medieval menagerie is unknown, although the lions were kept in the barbican known as Lion Tower. The royal collection was swelled by diplomatic gifts including three leopards from the Holy Roman Emperor. By the 18th century, the menagerie was open to the public; admission cost three half-pence or the supply of a cat or dog to be fed to the lions. The last of the animals left in 1835, relocated to Regents Park, after one of the lions was accused of biting a soldier. The Keeper of the Royal Menagerie was entitled to use the Lion Tower as a house for life. Consequentially, even though the animals had long since left the building, the Lion Tower was not demolished until the last keeper's death in 1853.
During 2011 an exhibition was hosted at the Tower with fine wire sculptures by Kendra Haste."

Fernando Botero Angulo (born April 19, 1932) is a Colombian figurative artist. His works feature a figurative style, called by some "Boterismo", which gives them an unmistakable identity. Botero depicts women, men, daily life, historical events and characters, milestones of art, still-life, animals and the natural world in general, with exaggerated and disproportionate volumetry, accompanied by fine details of scathing criticism, irony, humor, and ingenuity.

Goslar is a historic town at the foot of the Harz mountain range. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Mines of Rammelsberg, Historic Town of Goslar and Upper Harz Water Management System".
---quotation from whc.unesco.org:---
Rammelsberg-Goslar is the largest and longest-lived mining and metallurgical complex in the central European metal-producing region whose role was paramount in the economy of Europe for many centuries. It is a very characteristic form of urban-industrial ensemble which has its most complete and best preserved expression in Europe at Rammelsberg-Goslar.
Rammelsberg lies 1 km south-east of Goslar, in the Harz Mountains. It has been the site of mining for metalliferous ores and metal production (silver, copper, lead, zinc and gold) since as early as the 3rd century BC. The first documentary mention of Rammelsberg is from the beginning of the 11th century. The rich deposits of silver ore there were one of the main reasons for siting an imperial residence at the foot of the Rammelsberg mountain by Emperor Henry II; he held his first Imperial Assembly there in 1009. The town of Goslar grew up around the imperial residence. The town was to play an important role in the economic operations of the Hanseatic League and achieved great prosperity, which reached a peak around 1450. The revenues from mining, metal production, and trade financed the creation of the late medieval townscape of fortifications, churches, public buildings, and richly decorated mine-owners' residences which distinguish the present-day town.
(...)
The town was not significantly damaged in the Second World War and so the historic centre has survived intact, with its original medieval layout and many Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings of high quality.

The Kurfürstliches Palais in Trier is a large Rococo palace – one of the most magnificent examples in the world. It was built in its current form between 1756 and 1762 by Johannes Seiz as the home of Archbishop Johann Philipp von Walderdorff. It has had many guises over the years. Most notable features are the sculptures of mythological figures and angels.

Situated along the main gateway between Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley, the Gardens at Cornerstone Sonoma are a series of walk-through gardens showcasing new and innovative designs from the world's finest landscape architects and designers. When commissioned, these artists were given the freedom to create anything from traditional gardens to modern, conceptual installations.
My Hubie and I drove up to Sonoma to check out the Cornerstone Garden what an interesting place to shoot. It wasn't too crowded and there was a nice mix of art around the grounds to take photo’s of. There was an evening wedding being setup while we were there. So the next time were in the Sonoma/Napa area we might stop back by to get some shots I couldn’t get because things were on order and it had started to rain a bit while we were there.

**Jackson, Thomas Jonathan, Scuplture** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 97000446, date listed 19970516
Jackson Park, bounded by High, Jefferson, and 4th Sts., and Albemarle Co. Courthouse
Charlottesville, VA (Independent City)
The monumental figurative sculpture of Thomas Jonathan Jackson is the third of four works commissioned from members of the National Sculpture Society by philanthropist Paul Goodloe Mclntire and the second of three he gave to the city of Charlottesville, Virginia, during the years 1919 to 1924. When the art work was completed in 1921, it was considered by many to be among the finest equestrian sculptures in the nation.
As Jackson, bareheaded and bearded, rides Little Sorrel toward destiny, his body is pitched forward with his upper torso turned to the proper left and his proper left shoulder thrust outward. He wears a Confederate uniform with the jacket open at the neck and at the waist where folds of the material lie against his proper right leg and the horse's proper right flank as if blown back by the wind. He also wears heavy gloves, gripping the reins tightly behind the horse's neck with his proper left hand while reaching back toward the cantle of the saddle with his proper right hand to steady himself. Prominent spurs adorn his wom but sturdy-looking boots that are thrust deep into stirrups covered by large spats. The general is well supplied for action; a sword in its scabbard dangles from his proper left, a bedroll is attached at the rear of the saddle, and a canteen rests against the horse's proper right shoulder.
Little Sorrel is shown proceeding at an animated trot with his proper left front leg and proper right hind leg elevated. The toe of his proper left front hoof is placed lightly at the edge of the base and the animal seems just about to step off the pedestal. The horse's head is carried forward and to the proper left with nostrils flared and mouth open. His rapid movement is further suggested by a mane and tail that appear to be blown up and away from the body by the wind. The signature "Charles Keck, Sculptor" is placed below the horse's proper left hind hoof. (1)

We take a lot of photos of Diana here on the hearth. We have 9 track lights way up there and a couple of them point to the fireplace. Then, we get some fill light from the lamp and the hanging light. Note the fun artwork in the skylight. The marble scuplture has a note card: "Stroke gently and make a wish." We have fun!
SolidNature presents Vondel Fountain, Stacked, a monumental installation created with Dutch artist and designer Sabine Marcelis. Revealed during Amsterdam Fashion Week, the sculpture repurposes high-quality blue stone slabs from SolidNature’s award-winning installation showcased at Milan Design Week 2023. After the event in Milan, SolidNature CEO David Mahyari made sure that all the materials were given a new life. Only the bright blue plates had not yet been given a new purpose.
The three stone slabs each have a different orientation, which offers a different dynamic experience from every angle. Water starts to flow from multiple points in the installation, in a cascade with enchanting movement and sound.
The fountain will be on display for three months in the Vondelpark, near the Vondelparkpaviljoen. Mahyari secretly hopes that the municipality will decide to keep the work there. "If that is not the case, we will look for a permanent location for the stone and the object."

16 July 2013. In London's Kensington Gardens.
The granite boulders remain balanced in place by gravity.
Scuplture/installation by Peter Fischli and the late David Weiss. One of a series of sculptures arranged through the nearby Serpentine Gallery.
The two women and the boy in the photo were other visitors to the Gardens.
These Rocks Are Fakes
This rock-on-rock installation will stay in Kensington Gardens until 6 March 2014. Many people who view my Flickr pages won't have a chance to visit London and see this sculpture. But please don't be too disappointed. Because these are fake rocks. As I will explain.
In any case, I recommend the far better photos, very detailed information, and a video interview with Peter Fischli on the Serpentine Gallery website.
I saw this and other websites after my visit on 16 July. And then began to wonder if I'd have appreciated the sculpture more by visiting the websites first. Or would it have been the opposite: to lessen the impact?
I also viewed the Arup website. This explains that the company:
“working in close collaboration with The Serpentine Gallery and Peter Fischli … made
the installation possible by using state of the art LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging)
surveying technology on the rocks at their original location in North Wales. 3D printing
technology was then used to produce exact physical models at one twentieth of the
scale to explore different balanced configurations of the two rocks.”
In other words, these are not original balanced rocks but a highly accurate and technically sophisticated small-scale model - or larger than usual maquette - of the North Wales originals. Putting it another way, they are a mechanical reproduction. And therefore no more original than a tea-towel* with a picture of the rocks printed on it.
Anyway, who cares? It was a lovely day and I was exploring London with my niece, visiting from abroad. So a walk in Kensington Gardens was a pleasure. But had I been on my own, perhaps I should have skipped a trip to the reproduction boulders. Instead I could have just read the newspaper articles; and enjoyed viewing the websites giving the engineering details. And especially the photos, information and video interview with the artist on the Serpentine Gallery's site. Plainly these are now the reality of Art.

Fernando Botero 1988
bronze
For people in BC there is a program on Knowledge Network of Botero's life and work (March 2021) that is available on streaming which I strongly recommend. In it his family claim that Botero is the most popular living artist in the world. He is still working at the age of 88.
