This one is at a crazy angle, like he's giving you the nod, or something. Not super happy with the paint job, which is why I went all swirly on it.
The boys have been playing with Fimo and Sculpy lately. Today Hamble was admiring one of my Dinosaur Designs resin pendants, and decided he wanted to make himself a pendant.
We hung it on blue waxed cord, and he says he's going to wear it to school all week.
My handmade art doll, Chander "Candles" Candlestick.
Candles has a cloth stuffed body and Sculpy head and hands. He is painted with acrylic paint and gloss. He is 100% designed and made by me.
these are seven of the eight hands I've made for the first child of hd, I am starting on the second childs body now... (need some coffee, or a redbull... nah coffee...)
So one of my new year's resolutions was to get started with the Super Sculpy I've had kicking around for over a year.
I got hold of 'Pop Sculture' a really inspiring book, and finally got enough motivation to get started. Here's my initial armature worked up, based on a pose from the book 'Art Models 8' (awesome because the acompanying disk contains full rotation photos).
polymer clay tile beads useing TLC and transfer technique with laser printer, shabby cottage studio valentine collage sheets were used for the images, glass beads and silver findings were used between the tile beads, tile beads were finished using sculpy gloss finish
first attempt at modding elf ears. I just used sculpy, so it is very temp, but it's good for practicing.
I think it came out ok...I need to learn how to smooth it better..but I feel that when I use epoxy clay it will be easier..and I can always sand it smooth after it sets. *shrug*
But more practice is needed!
Created out of Super Sculpy and painted with acrylic. The crown is a yellow-painted skateboard bearing stabilizer, and is not attached.
The Forest of Sorrows can be so terribly unforgiving for its denizens, as they wait an eternity for a respite from the sadness. Fortunately for them, the monolithic tree "Solace" serves as a temporary haven where they can take comfort in knowing that they have not been forsaken. You can often hear Fredo, the groundskeeper pick out a tune or two on the massive pipe organ within Solace. He loves Black Sabbath.
"Solace" is my contribution for the "Qee to the City" group show at Art Basel 2010 in Miami. It is a 18" Qee made with magic sculpt, super sculpy, metal, wood, pouring medium, and found objects with a set of self powered speakers built-in.
I've named her Anne.
The head arrived yesterday but the eyes were not put in and they didn't include any putty. I had to go to Michaels and get some Sculpy. I had a really hard time putting the eyes in because her head is so small and my hands shake. I don't think they're quite right but whatever.
I bought eyes but I couldn't get those in at all so I just went with the ones Ai sent.
I'm just glad she's in one piece I guess.
