Most Antpittas sculk around on the forest floor keeping themselves hidden and so we were all keeping low and quiet and facing into the forest hoping for a sighting. Then this cheeky fella hopped up onto the fence rail behind us to see what we were waiting for :-).

I have terrible problems with the Paparazzi where they take pictures of Jojo being entertained by her lovers and showing off her cute million-dollar-bum and more. The trouble is I put up signs everywhere so they can find my house and I even leave the garden gate open so they can creep in and sculk behind the bushes pointing their long lenses but they just don't bother to come. Seems they are not interested in super sex-bombs any more.
An unusual bird to see in one's back garden, a Pheasant Coucal. A bird that generally sculks around in the undergrowth. In non-breeding plumage. Also called a "Cane or Swamp Pheasant". They build their own nest and incubate their own eggs, unlike other Cuckoos
Nth IS Weka, (Galliralus greyi ) Sculking around as they do ...These birds almost became extinct in the early eighties save for a handful that survived probably a bird disease epidemic, this remnant rebuilt a stable yet vulnerable population due to their small gene pool. They are the largest of our declining Rail species.
Tunnel Vision
I must be mad taking this shot and being so far away from the camera at night in an underpass........ anyone coulda knicked the kit!!!!
I wanted to try something different for the 365, assisted by my teenage son I was intrigued by the concentric patterns this tunnel offered...... not sure on the positioning myself...... maybe a larger subject silhouetted next time???
I also tried to create a ghostly figure with some movement of the arms slightly.... (p.s. I do not normally sculk around with my hoody up looking ready to mug someone...... honest!)
Best viewed large to very large!

All I want
Is all you got
Make me happy baby
And I'll make it hot
I don't need no doctor
To tell me what to do
'Cause I know I'm goin'
Straight ahead for you
I got that tunnel vision goin' through my head
I can't helf myself all I see is red
Tunnel vision goin' through my head
Lay me down inside your flying bed
All that's yours
And all that's mine
We'll put together baby
And we can combine
We don't need no lawyer
Let's not make this long
We just need a love thing
That's beautiful and strong
I got that tunnel vision
Goin' through my head
I can't helf myself all I see is red
Tunnel vision goin' through my head
Lay me down inside your flying bed
Tunnel vision goin' through my head
I can't helf myself all I see is red
Tunnel vision goin' through my head
Lay me down inside your flying bed
Make it funky now etc.

As I was taking this photo in St Augustines Parade this evening a chap seated near the Neptune statue starting shouting at me to stop taking his picture, I wasn't and informed him of this. His mate joined in and very quickly I realised that they were 2 drunks who where assuming in the egocentric way that alcoholics tend to believe that I had been secretly snapping them. The second drunk decided to come over and remonstrate with me as I wasn't about to sculk away and for a minute I feared that my camera may come to some harm as he was readying for a fight, thankfully he backed off when I assertively assured him that I wasn't directing my camera at him and his mate and walked off but it was an anxious couple of minutes
Went for a walk down to the river with my lovely wife Tracy this evening and caught this blue heron sculking around the shallows.
Shot with my Fujifilm X-T3 and XF 55-200 zoom. Processed in Capture One Pro.

I believe that this plant attaches itself to others to draw its food supply. It is not a high class, posh plant, but one that you will find sculking in a corner.
The Snipe (Gallinago gallinago) is a medium sized wading bird that is most often seen sculking around the water's edge of lakes, although it can be seen in bogs and marshland, and on moorland during the breeding season. During the winter numbers increase from about 60,000 birds to over a million, as our resident birds are joined by migrants from Europe. The bird feeds mostly on worms and insects.
Thank you for visiting. All your comments, faves and invites are truly appreciated. Wishing you a wonderful weekend :)
Quote: The appearance of the Satyrs is described by later writers as robust, and rough, though with various modifications, but their general features are as follows: the hair is bristly, the nose round and somewhat turned upwards, the ears pointed at the top like those of animals (whence they are sometimes called thêres, Eurip. Cycl. 624); they generally have little horns, or at least two hornlike protuberances (phêrea), and at or near the end of the back there appears a little tail like that of a horse or a goat. In works of art they were represented at different stages of life; the older ones, commonly called Seilens or Silens (Paus. i. 23. § 6), usually have bald heads and beards, and the younger ones are termed Satyrisci (Saturiskoi, Theocrit. iv. 62, xxvii. 48). All kinds of satyrs belong to the retinue of Dionysus (Apollod. iii. 5. § 1; Strab. x. p. 468; Ov. Fast. iii. 737, Ars Am. i. 542, iii. 157), and are always described as fond of wine, whence they often appear either with a cup or a thyrsus in their hand (Athen. xi. p. 484), and of every kind of sensual pleasure, whence they are seen sleeping, playing musical instruments or engaged in voluptuous dances with nymphs. (Apollod. ii. 1. § 4; Horat. Carm. ii. 19. 3, i. 1. 30; Ov. Met. i. 692, xiv. 637; Philostr. Vit. Apoll. vi. 27 ; Nonn. Dionys. xii. 82.) Like all the gods dwelling in forests and fields, they were greatly dreaded by mortals. (Virg. Eclog. vi. 13; Theocrit. xiii. 44; Ov. Her. iv. 49.)

This one was sculking around the Museum of Modern Art in Glasgow. Wonder if he was local and prepared for an evening on Sauchiehall street?

Over 150 people from Unite Against Fascism confront Nazi teacher Adam Walker and Nazi leader Nick Griffin on the second day of the hearing at the General Teaching Council 25th May 2010
5 members of the fascist British National Party joined Adam Walker along with Nick Griffins boot boys to spread their racist lies and sow division. They think teachers should have the right to spread racist and Islamophobic material on the internet from the schools where they are paid to teach.
Unite Against Fascism supported by the National Union of Teachers, NASUWT, PCS, Birmingham Trades Council and many other unions believe our schools should be places of tolerance and learning, not ignorance and hatred. That is why Unite Against Fascism peacfully but noisily confronted them to celebrate our diverse city and show the BNP they are not welcome here.
The demonstration consisted of all parts of Birmingham’s rich diverse community in opposition to the division and hated of the BNP and to oppose racists and fascists in public services. The protests continued throughout the the hearing.
It was a disgrace that the hearing did not strike off Adam Walker however it was very clear to see this had not been the victory the BNP had hoped for. Their pathetic 'national' mobilisation never reached beyond 15 people, participants had to be escorted by the police, at no stage were they able to hold interviews without the UAF chants drowning them out and their so called victory was celebrated by them sculking away under police protection and bundled into a 4x4 with their body guards. No school would ever want to offer Adam Walker a job.
Unusual to see Snipe with necks extended, mostly seen sculking around in low growth with necks low down. These had just flown in from the north

This was about 2.5 metres long and genuinly quite scary, but an amazing experience, taken with a 10mm lens so you know how close i had to get.

It was a disgrace that the hearing did not strike off Adam Walker however it was very clear to see this had not been the victory the BNP had hoped for. No school would ever want to offer Adam Walker a job.
