40 Volumes of the World Tipiṭaka in Roman script printed by Dhamma Society Thailand arriving Oslo in the morning by THAI Airways.
The royal gift of Tipiṭaka from Thailand was presented as a gift of Dhamma for the Buddhist Federation of Norway, the first institution in Norway to have received the gift.
Over a century ago, Chulachomklao, King of Siam, presented the newly printed sets of Tipiṭaka, then printed in Siam script, to 6 institutions in Scandinavia. This Siam-script Tipiṭaka edition is the world's first printed set in book form.
In the past it was difficult to imagine the time and labour of work to transport the Siam-script by sea from Bangkok to London and then to Oslo. Today, thanks to THAI Airways' Miles for Merit Project, the air transportation of the World Tipiṭaka was supported by donated miles from Royal Orchid Plus Members worldwide. It took less than 12 hours to fly direct from Bangkok to Oslo. Such is the example of Cooperate Social Responsibility par excellence!
