Eucalyptus haemastoma.

The scribbles or zigzag tracks are tunnels made by the larvae of the scribbly gum moth.

Midwest FurFest is a furry convention that was held in Chicago, IL from Dec 1-4, 2022. Attendance was 13,641 and they raised $106,283.66 for their charity, the Street Dog Coalition.

These tiny scribbles are actually caused by insect activity

Sat in the dentists waiting room this morning I was glad that I had my trusty moleskine pad and pencil with me. But what to draw? No worries there, in that situation I always revert to my trusty 'shut your eyes and scribble a line' technique. Here's the result of 15 minutes at the tooth doctors. Looks kinda bubble bobble meets dolphin.

Eucalyptus racemosa

The smooth bark is ornamented with 'scribbles' made by burrowing insect larvae. Seasonally the tree getting rid of them by shredding the bark revealing the new clean bark, but insects will come back of cource... it is circle... clever Nature :)
