Jewel of Gothic architecture, Chartres Cathedral originates from as early as the 4th Century BC. This cathedral's buildings date from a structure first completed around 1037, which was partially destroyed by fire. It was subsequently rebuilt and expanded. Its amazing stained glass dates from the 12th and 13th centuries.

As you enter this church the first thing you see is the glass screen at the back, which has been made into a 'non-stained glass' window by the young people of the church. The motifs have been stuck on and illustrate, 'How the church tells the time', by moving through the circle of the church calendar with its cycle of seasonal colours and symbols.
