the kids made their own scratch paper by covering a piece of heavy watercolor paper with crayon and then painting it black. when it's dry, you can use a toothpick or almost anything to scratch a design through the black paint. fun.

would like to photoshop the legs out of the photo ... haven't figured that part out yet!

This rhino spent a good 15 minutes scratching himself on this rock. It was apparent by the lolling tongue that he was enjoying it.

 

Collection Note:

This was shot early in my photographic career. I'm posting these now because I enjoy them and feel they deserve better than burial on my hard drive.

"Scratch" is a easy and fun programming environment for beginners of all ages. Recently some young makers learned about programming nested 'repeat' loops to generate geometric patterns. Those drawings were then used as patterns to be cut on the laser cutter with some outstanding results.

Big crop on this picture as this fella was up a tree and there was a lot of pond water stopping me getting closer.
