Close up from the last photo.

Another Arabian horse from high school. This was one with handmade scratch board which is why there's that weird marbled effect going on in the black. It's also very glossy so it's hard to photograph well.

to watch it all burn away

One of the latest by the N.Y. Lottery. I used to play these things alot but got THAT under control real quick. They`re everywhere and the winnings never really pay back over time. (Well they didn`t for me anyway) For the various holidays we all enjoy, NY puts out different scratch off games for the people to gamble with. Personally i like to give these out as birthday gifts, 20 bucks at a time to the people in my life who need something additional in their cards besides a few words when shopping time is minimal. I don`t like shopping so that time is always minimal! lol

Three pictures taken on the side of the UK National Gardening Show in Shepton Mallet, in September 2010.

I first prepared a version of this picture without the scratches, but then found that they somehow belong to the photo.

Scratch and sniff technology generally refers to things that have been treated with a microfragrance coating. When scratched, the coating releases an odor that is normally related to the image displayed under the coating. This is not one of those images.

The dead seal pups and afterbirth attracted a lot of scavengers.

Dunno whats going on... who she is, whos she's saying that to, or thinking it about... or what the little creature tugging at her wrist is, or doing...

This little red cow spent a good amount of time grooming herself and then scratching herself on this post in the field.

I couldn't believe it when Toralei arrived. I never thought I'd have her so soon. She's absolutely stunning- I love her face and maroon lips.

I was curious to see what effect scratches would have on a microscope objective. There are some really good objectives available on Ebay for low prices due to the presence of scratches. So in the interests of science (and my wallet) I savagely attacked a very cheap no-name 10X objective with a screwdriver.

This is what the front element looked like after the attack.

Surprisingly I saw no obvious visible effect on images taken with it. I'm sure there are some, but it would seem to still work good enough for my modest needs.

A year of rough treatment gets you a fairly messed-up iPod. Still usable, but photos and whatnot get pretty obscured.

My scratch-built Firefly handheld aethercannon. It's completely finished except for one minute detail--I'm going to add a clear bottle (teardrop shaped hopefully) to the end of the grip and put lights in it, thus the name "Firefly."

Main parts: A converted desk lamp, four ultra-thick (about 1/4" sides) cardboard tubes, a broken gauge, and a piece of chain link fence support.
