Summer hanging out on the deck chair, she's such a cute puss and loves attention!

This lovely Highlander was having a good scratch on a fence post today, blissfully enjoying the sunshine
“[...] In each of us lie good and bad, light and dark, art and pain, choice and regret, cruelty and sacrifice. We’re each of us our own chiaroscuro, our own bit of illusion fighting to emerge into something solid, something real. We’ve got to forgive ourselves that. I must remember to forgive myself. Because there is a lot of grey to work with. No one can live in the light all the time.”

Green Heron scratching that itch, having a bad hair day too... I could hardly hold the camera still (no tripod of course) because I was laughing, good thing I was far away, didn't want to disturb!!
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! HWW too!
Thank you for your visit and support!
[Enlarge to see the light in the cobwebs on the tree.]
This lovely young cow had an itchy back, and simply had to scratch it. It sits in the light at that very moment when the sun emerged from behind the mountains and struck us with a golden glow. But for me the highlight in this picture (the "punctum" as Roland Barthes would have called it), is the way the light catching the cobwebs in the tree matches the way it also catches the wire in the fence which runs down the left side of the picture.

Upgrading equipment. Adapting studio. Testing lights. Experimenting with exposure. I'm scratching around with unexplored technical or visual ideas.
Once in a while I have a few images to share and find a new direction for deeper exploration.
Here are the results of my most recent session of scratching around in the studio!

Brown thrashers get most of their food by scratching around through dead leaves on the ground with their strong feet and long bill, so plucking ripe gray dogwood berries off the bush is a piece of cake for this elusive character.

Here is one of the few photos which I have taken of Filou lately because I only point the camera at him if I don't disturb him or he doesn't even notice me. He was sitting on the porch and scratching his chin, therefore he was distracted. For now he is doing okay, his coordination issues are even much better than they used to be.
