Sophie finally scratches the post, but she hasn't fully kicked her furniture scratching habit.
Collected at Okmulgee Lake Spillway in Oklahoma. It seems to be a scratch circle? The rings could have been formed over time by the organism swaying in a current. Very interesting. Found a paper on this here: earthscience.ucr.edu/docs/Soren_scratch_2002.pdf
The object is small, around 3.8 cm at its widest point. It is donut-like in shape with a central indentation and rounded outer ridge lined with concentric circles. There is a raised bump in the center of the indentation. The black areas are somewhat glossy while the places where the black layer has peeled off to reveal browns and yellows is matte. I didn't notice anything of interest on the bottom.
2017/03/19 - a suggestion from Justin Cowart: "orbiculoidea brachiopod deformed by folding"
Female Stonechat over Dunwich Heath just before sunset. I managed to get to within 15 feet of her as she sat on a gorse bush having a scratch and preen. She even looked straight at me a couple of times before carrying on what she had been doing and finally flew away after about five minutes.
Another experimental film photograph onto which I have scratched a patter.

The former duotone got a bit to much, so this is a simple tint, like the rest of the photos in this black and white session.
premi "L" per vederla GRANDE: c'è parecchia ruggine, da graffiare via. grazie
press "L" to see it LARGE: there's a rust that needs to be scratched away, thanx.

Il colore è un mezzo di esercitare sull’anima un’influenza diretta.
Il colore è un tasto, l’occhio il martelletto che lo colpisce, l’anima lo strumento dalle mille corde.

Does the world outside make you itch? Warmer months can bring you in contact with any number of scratchy culprits: poison ivy, bug bites, and sunburn, to name a few.
From a survival perspective, there isn’t a good explanation for why we itch. One theory goes that animals itch in order to get parasites off their skin, and our desire to scratch an itch could be a carryover from that instinct.
Insects pose another itchy outdoor hazard. Some bug bites, like those from mosquitoes, biting flies, and ants, can make the surrounding skin turn red, swell, and itch. Unlike poison ivy, the reaction to insect bites is almost instantaneous. The swelling, redness, and itching is caused by histamine, which your immune system releases as part of the allergic response.
Most of the time, bug bites cause a mild reaction that goes away in a day or two. Try calamine lotion, an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream, or antihistamine to relieve itching.
Be sure to read and follow the label directions on any over-the-counter medications. Icing the area can help reduce swelling.
If you feel your throat swelling, find it hard to breathe, or become dizzy or nauseous after an insect bite, seek emergency care.

Candid street shot, Germany.
This very large brown bear sow was scratching herself on a tree. Was walking along the trail and got very lucky to see this bear doing this behavior. This shot was definitely on my wish list of photos to capture.

So the moral to this little story is this - IF one of your cats, say Mischief, is in your closet and does NOT want to come out - do NOT force him. Never force someone out of the closet - they will come out when they are ready! *snort*
Yes, I cleaned the scratches *there are more on the other side of my arm, but they are mild*, and I put antibiotic cream on them and covered them. Of course first I let out a string of expletives that would shock a Sailor lol

Well I don't know where they come from
But they sure do come
I hope they comin' for me
And I don't know how they do it
But they sure do it good
I hope they doin' it for free
They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
The first time that I got it
I was just ten years old
I got it from some kitty next foor
I went and see the Dr. and
He gave me the cure
I think I got it some more
They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
It's nothin dangerous
I feel no pain
I've got to ch-ch-change
You know you got it when you're going insane
It makes a grown man cryin' cryin'
Won't you make my bed
I make the pussy purr with
The stroke of my hand
They know they gettin' it from me
They know just where to go
When they need their lovin man
They know I do it for free
They give me cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
