Identification of the bird as Rufous Hummingbird was peer-reviewed. Please refer to the photo of Rufous Hummingbird with tail spread. [Sixth photo prior to this one.] It could be an adult female or immature male.
Scratches, the first calf of the season I had a decent swim with, though I was only in the water for perhaps 30 seconds in total. Mother resting head-down behind the calf.
An itch, also known as pruritus, is a general sensation arising from the irritation of skin cells or nerve cells associated with the skin. While it can be a nuisance, pruritus serves as an important sensory and self-protective mechanism, as do other skin sensations such as touch, pain, vibration, cold and heat.
Despite approximately a century of pruritus research, there is no single effective antipruritic treatment, but several topical and orally-administered agents are available that suppress itching in certain clinical settings. These agents include lotions and creams (such as calamine and hydrocortisone), antihistamines, opioid antagonists, aspirin and ultraviolet light therapy.
Though it is helpful in relieving the itch, scratching offers only temporary relief and may cause the skin to become further irritated and possibly tear, which could result in an infection.

Scratching each other is a favorite activity of Przewalski's horses. Especially at a time when mosquitoes and midges are plentiful
Located down the hall from the Cascadia Museum in Edmonds is the Scratch Distillery and as I walked by I was mesmerized by the gleaming brass and spun stainless steel on display. I was more interested in sketching instead of spirits
Funny card that I sent to a Postcrossing member in the United States. The inside of the card says: The best way to relieve stress...Share it with others!
Here he is again - our handsome boy showing his beautiful mane of hair. We awoke to a fresh coat of snow again this morning and we are expecting rain now - very messy!

Have a great day everyone and Happy Textural Tuesday!
Happy to get a series of scratch shots. Late in the day so the iso was 12800, 1/60th so none were sharp. The only way to use them was to make a gif.
Shot with Canon EOS 40D + Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM
Yay, I will be in Budapest from January 21st to 28th.
If you are in Budapest and would like to shoot with me, dont hesitate to contact me!!!!
This is the first shot of a long term project I did just begin.
I found a beautiful, very historic and most importantly: abandoned location close to my working place, and I decided that it would be an interesting thing to come back over and over again, as often as I can, to document this place in all its variety. I usually visit the most locations only once, and then I probably come back a year later or so.
For me this is a way to find out how many details I overlook when I am entering a new location.
I hope to be able to capture all of this places specialness and keep it for the generation after.

For a bit of fun here are 2 crops of the last image. Which do you prefer? :)
1) Original
2) Xpan/ narrow crop (top)
3) Wider crop
I think I prefer either crop to the original, perhaps #2 most..but #3 is nice too..! :) #3 is better balanced.. maybe #3
"OK i quite like this one. From the previous weekend photo walk with the Mamiya 7. I thought the film was scratched but it is a white jet stream in the top of the image. Should I try to edit it out? I'm not sure I could!
This is the sort of image I would print.. One of my favs so far for my landscape efforts! (Looks nice as an Xpan style crop too - bottom section)
