The scrap line at the east end of NRE Silvis features several first generation EMD rebuilds.

Beaten up Class M62 loco of MÁV-START with race number 210 roaring near Pörböly with a loaded Baja - Dombóvár scrap-iron train.
The 300 meters long ~1500-ton train reaches Dombóvár via the scenic railway line twisting between the hills of Tolna and Baranya counties.
Most of these scrap shipments are heading to Italy and Slovenia. From Dombóvár an electric locomotive takes over towards Gyékényes, the Croatian border station.
I like to go dumpster-diving, not so much to pull things out, but to see what's inside, and maybe capture a few photons.
Here is some scrap from a building undergoing renovation.

I was staying at a local farm campsite last weekend,. this picture just begged to be taken. it's just a natural uncontrolled pile of scrap metal boxes and wood..

Found a breaker's yard when looking for aerial photograph opportunities on Google Maps. Turns out it is only 5 minutes drive from home! Had a chat with the owner who gave me permission to fly around to get some shots. I got quite a few, this is the first!

A Pan Am Train marshalls scrap hoppers loaded with the remnants of the Bucksport paper mill as it is slowly dismantled. GMTX 3109 is seen through another piece of history, the old MEC turntable.

Stranding happened on 05/03/2015. due to cyclone Rea or more accurately hurricane force bora wind which was reaching speeds up to 170 km/h which allegedly led to mooring lines braking and resulted in floting and stranding of these two cargo ships. These ships are long out of use and were waiting for their trip to the scrap yard. Briefly, they became a strange attraction of the citizens of Split.

We took some of the scrap countertops and turned them into cutting boards today. Now I can stop worrying about dinging the countertops, and semi-retire the plastic cutting boards - for free! Nice.
