Poor Guys of the cleaning squad ! Some smoking people just left the hole trash! That`s a huge job to do for our little tiny helpers. Look how many cigarette filter tubes where chuck onf the ground. Not to mention all the trash ash that needs to cleaned up. Hurry up my little helpers...the citizens are willed to make an smooth Easter walkover and therefore it should be all cleaned up right in time. :)

Als Ingenieur in vierter Generation und Mitarbeiter eines Aufzugsherstellers konnte Ich natürlich nicht anders, als etwas zu verweilen. Und am nächsten Tag kam wieder, um die schön sichtbare Treibscheibe zu portraitieren.
Die Treibscheibe ist bei einem Traktionsaufzug das letzte Glied der Antriebseinheit. Im einfachsten Fall laufen Tragmittel in Form von (Stahl-)Seilen oder Gurten einfach vom Fahrkorb beziehungsweise der Aufzugskabiene über die Treibscheibe zu einem Gegengewicht und werden von der Treibscheibe angetrieben.

Once a week I pass a building that used to belong to the local agricultural cooperative and is currently being converted for a new use. This week there were skips for scrap metal in front of it, and in one of them were parts of the dismantled freight elevator. As an engineer in fourth generation and working for an elevator company, I couldn't help but spend some time taking a closer look at various details. And the other day, I came back to take a portrait of the beautifully visible traction sheave.
The traction sheave is the last element of the hoisting machine of a traction elevator. In the simplest case, load-bearing suspension means in the form of (steel) ropes or belts simply run from the elevator car via the traction sheave to a counterweight and are driven by the traction sheave.

After a long wait, the 1600 Hamilton Yard job pauses long enough for a quick shot of the GP9 set. It was a windy night that night, as evident by the clouds emitting from the stacks of Columbian Chemicals in the background (which I believe are adorning the red and green lighting to celebrate the coming holiday season).
Strathearne Yard is quite the hot spot for scrap steel in Hamilton, with an estimated 33,000 tons of steel (based on around 300 cars coming and going) coming and going through this yard to American Iron & Metal and Triple M Metals, on both CN and CP.
