2003 Thomas FS65 in the GTUSD yard in 2009

When I saw this scene, I had to stop. It had so many elements I love . . . red barn, yellow school buses, hay bales and fences. Who could ask for more?

Fleet No 2002. Still on loan to Southern Vectis, this was my first time driving this bus. Seen here at Alum bay coach park at the end of the school run from Carisbrooke schools. Sadly another one where the screen display didn't fully come out.

Translink Ulsterbus (Magherafelt) 1714

This update starts in Antrim Town back at the end of May, with Irizar 1714 noted here operating Service 110 to Cookstown.

Despite being upseated to schoolbuses a number of years ago, some depots still frequently use these on normal service runs out of school hours. Most of these will be detaxed for the summer months.

Fleet No 2735 & 7841.

These two were my steeds for school duties on 17 May. Having driven this coach I have now had the pleasure of piloting all six of the Jonckheere JHVs that Southern Vectis have acquired from Excelsior, five on the Volvo B11R and one Volvo B12M. All very nice to drive but I'd like to try one on a run back to my native Yorkshire and see how they perform in their natural habitat, a motorway!

As for the E200MMC, it may look very small compared to the coach but the reason is there is another coach parked behind the Volvo so they are not equally as far back!

Also in shot is Optare Solo SR 3804. HW62CGO.

Fleet No 1131.

A new school route for me, seen at the start point in St Helens before a run which eventually ends in Newport.

back in 2009, all the huddersfield volvo citybuses were withdrawn & lined up in the depot with names and numbers painted out, hoping to get pics of all of them lined up i went to the depot only to find out yellow schoolbuses had been parked across in front of them, the one above was the only one i managed to photograph at the depot although i did get good pics of a few at the scrap yard

C771OCN was an MCW Metrobus DR102/55 H77F purchased new by Northern General as their 3771 in June 1986. On disposal in 2002 it passed to M&W and is seen in Glenrothes. Council policy regarding schoolbuses in the area has dictated a single deck fleet being used nowadays.

Fleet No 7846. This was a first for me, up until now I'd not had the chance to drive either of the two Caetano Enigmas the company inherited and I'd heard varying tales about them; good and bad. I'm happy to say I thoroughly enjoyed my duty driving this one and look forward to getting it again. Seen here at Ryde Coach Park waiting time before a school run from Ryde to Medina College in Newport.

Fleet No 3809. As this most bizarre school year draws to a close this is potentially the last School Duty I will do due to changes to the School Transport Contracts for next year. No one knows as yet what will happen but obviously the full time regular school drivers need to be accomodated long before me, which is fine. If it was my last duty all I can say is it was a good one to go out on. I've had a few interesting times with the 401 over the last few years but today was a doddle. Sadly Coronavirus has seen the service dwindle from a double decker and a coach to a Solo, seen here posing on the outrun to Totland.

Now clocking in at an impressive 22 years old and STILL going strong around Derbyshire, it is a regular workhorse on schoolbuses, shopper services and even the 17/A!!

Testing the zoom lens on this Minolta 110 camera. This is as zoomed in as it will go and the next one will be as far wide as it will go for comparison of the two.

This is a whole lot of school buses, so I expect it to jump straight to the top of Explore.

School contract buses climbing Little Hallam's Hill, Ilkeston on the afternoon of 8th October 2014.

Stagecoach involvement in oil and gas shuttle appears to have ended at the end of 2016. Laterly Aberdeen depot had operated the 92 (BP Dyce to Mannofield) and the 96 (Union Sq to Altens). Indeed the 92 and the 96 interworked in the evening peak while Stonehaven depot used schoolbuses to run direct to Altens then operate as a 96 into Union Sq then back out in service on route 7 to Stonehaven as peak extras. The morning 96 used to interwork with Portlethen school services while the 92 with Kemnay Academy schools.

This efficient interworkings have come to and end as the 96 has been taken over by Premier Coaches of Kintore using this one time National Express Bova Futura. I think it just loops from Market St back to Altens for the next run.

Less than a year after leaving Kilmarnock for pastures new in Glasgow, many of these former service 4 E300's have returned to be used as Schoolbuses for the new term starting in a few weeks time. East Ayrshire council are now making it a condition that all school contracts must be operated by single decker vehicles equipped with seatbelts.

Its certainly looking as though the 2015-16 term could be the first time in a number of years that Kilmarnock will not have a yellow school bus fleet, but we will need to wait and see.

On Thursday March 22, 2018, my Railfan Friend Jim and I visited Kirby Farm in Williston, Florida to witness the beginning of a Place for Critically ILL and Disadvantage Children. - Kirby Family Farms is Focused on Railroad and Agricultural History !

Kirby Family Farm will not open officially open for at least a full year, since there is much work to be done. They have assembled a great number of discarded Carnival Rides, Narrow Gauge Locomotives, 18 Ringling Brothers Circus (Passenger) Cars, a few Circus Wagons, a former USAF End Cab Switcher and various Surplus Trucks donated by US Government Agencies. Some of the former Steam Locomotives have been converted to Diesel-Mechanical and were formerly used by various Theme Parks such as OpryLand and Bush Gardens Williamsburg.

These five photographs show several Sunday School Buses, that Daryl Kirby acquired for his new enterprise.

Daryl was very cordial with us, allowing us to roam freely taking photographs. We spoke with him and his employees about the monumental amount of worked to achieve an grand opening in 2019. He has acquired many discarded carnival rides through donations and purchases and he needs Volunteers.

The Kirby Family Farm has hosted "6 Gun Territory Re-Enactments" during through the 1960's. aka: "Six Gun Territory" featuring Sam Huston. They also feature Christmas and Easter Celebrations and Fund Raisers. He is looking for Volunteers and additional acquisitions.

The Kirby family Farm is located at: 19650 Northeast 30th Street, Williston, Florida 32696. They can be reached at 352-812-7435.

Bus Éireann (Dundalk) SC322

Two updates due this weekend- the first of which starts with Bus Éireann SC322 noted here outside Busáras commencing a scheduled relief on Expressway Service 32 to Monaghan.

Very rare for a modern SC to turn up on one of these reliefs- they are generally operated by SPs now but older VC/SC schoolbuses have been known to crop up in the past. That being said, there isn’t much difference between this and a normal Expressway coach as it has free WiFi and comfortable seating so passengers won’t have missed out on too much. SE54 operating the regular service through to Letterkenny.
