A school was established here in 1887, and the current building dates from 1902. The Manitoba Historical Society does an amazing job documenting these sites and on their entry it states that, "among the teachers of Brown Lea School were Miss Lucy Cockburn (1887), Miss Eliza (1888), Miss Ross (1898), Miss Edith Young (1902), and Mrs. Eva Gouldie". I wonder what their lives and their students' lives were like.

I wrote a blog post about this trip in February/March 2022. If you'd like to see some behinds the scene shots, video and read some stories about how I shot these images, take a look.

If you are watching this, that means that you like photography, but it doesn't mean that it is your main activity.
Probably it would be an intrusion to your intimacy, but I would like to know what is it that you do besides photography (work wise) if you don't mind of course I'm my case I own some language schools in Japan and photography is the way that I can release my pressure...how about you?
Well...a teacher just resigned, and guess who got a new 5th Grade class...lolol.

Just another day and another collection.
It struck me later that the local Council no longer collects from the school and wondered when they stopped collecting.
Found this boat at a sailing school in Redwood City, California. For training pirates? Or training to fend off pirates?
Note: Thanks to Flickr member Jordan McAlister, I've learned that this building is not a church as I had originally labeled it; but is an old school, now serving as a community center (and perhaps church, since I'm almost certain that I recall a church sign on this property, hence my original label and description). Please see comments from Jordan for more information.
Abandoned school still standing. Despite being missing the windows, is still in relatively good shape.

An old one room schoolhouse in rural Matheson Ontario. My Dad attended this school from 1933 until I think 1940, and prior to that my Grandmother from what I understand was a teacher in this school. It was located a short 2 mile walk from my grandparent's homestead. My Dad would walk this route to school in temperatures during the winter as low as -30c. If I remember the story correctly, he had to walk uphill both ways lol :-)

The title is an assumption. This relic sits just off Boyles School Road (and US-160), and I followed the road to its end and no other building on that road could have possibly filled the bill as a "school." Other than that, the only other thing indicating it might have been a school is that it was just one room. There were no artifacts left inside to give any clue as to what it might have been.
I didn't know I would ever upload this image as whatever this building might have been, it isn't particularly photogenic, though I'm a fan of weather wood and I like the contrast between the dark skies and the snow. Anyway, for what it's worth . . . .
This was taken an hour before the previous upload.
my school from 1958 to 1965, named after the poet, born in Macon, Georgia, 3 February, 1842; died in Lynn, North Carolina, 7 September, 1881.
The school is known for its landmark replica of the State of Liberty, which was erected at the northwest corner of the school's property in 1952 following a fund drive by Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Visit the school's informative website at www.tulsaschools.org/schools/lanier
