Can't get over Schofield Pass this year - as of the end of August still a 200 foot section about 15 feet deep of snow covering the road. A light enduro bike might make it but not my 1150GS.

Built circa 1815, this Federal-style structure is believed to be the
first two-story tavern house in Madison. It has housed a tavern, a
post office, and a general store, all of which were kept separate from
the residence. The Schofield House was once the home of
Alexander and Drusilla Lanier, whose son J.F.D. went on to build the
1844 Lanier Mansion only a few blocks west of this site. A noteworthy
feature is the bar in the entry room. In January 1818, fourteen Masons
from all nine of the Indiana Masonic Lodges, met upstairs at this location to constitute the new Grand Lodge of Indiana. In 1972, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis purchased the property on behalf of the Freemasons of Indiana.
Taken at Schofield Barracks January 1942. Friend of my grandfather while in the Army.
In the scrapbook that this picture was included in, above the picture he wrote "With defenders such as these.....?"
