Just a quick, lazy shot while cooking dinner: scapes (from the garden) and leeks (from the store) slowly simmering in butter.

pesto made from garlic scapes

Garlic scape pesto, scape stock, scapes in scrambled eggs ...

Day seventy-seven/365. As I approached the area of the produce stand in which the animals live, this is the first one I noticed, huddled against the wire fence. I could see, even from a distance, that he was missing some fur. What kind of a skin disease does he have?

The answer came quickly. Another sheep saw me coming and sprang to its feet. It walked forward to the fence, but before greeting me, it simply had to tear a mouthful of fur from its penmate.

What's the motivation for that?! None of the other sheep had any wool-barren skin. Why was this one a scape sheep?

It made me thankful to be a human. So glad we're above that kind of behavior.

My neighbor is this wonderful old Cuban man who grows an amazing garden in his little patch of backyard paradise. His crop of garlic scapes were particularly nice this year. A great subject to try out my "new" RB67.

WIT: Nearby back alley. Changed the sky to a gradient. The smoke from the BC fires makes the sky white these days.

Having lugged the tripod & camera to the top, there wasn't that much potential. These are the best I could do.
