Melbourne Scape part 13

SCAPE stands for Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble. Basically it consists of a suit with its own air supply. SCAPE is used during shuttle processing due to the extreme hazards of working with rocket fuels and oxidizer.

Snapseed for iOS 7 has a new filter, HDR Scape. Works well with buildings. Still not impressed much with most faux-HDR app treatments of portraits.

Buzz Carpet by Janna van Hasselt for SCAPE Public Art Season 2016.

Buzz Carpet is an interactive ground mural which truly engulfs its site. A ludic tension between the planar and dimensional spaces creates a skin with an ambiguous sense of figure and ground. The pattern is derived from the stitches in crochet and mimics the makeup of surrounding building sites that form its backdrop. Visitors can engage directly with the piece on many different levels and will be dazed by its intense colour buzz.

iPhone: A view from dinner

I purchased these at the Cedar Falls Saturday Farmers Market. I’ve never seen them for sale from a local source. They are the biggest scapes I've ever seen. Tony, the man who grew them, said they were Elephant Garlic. The bulbs were like timpani mallets and the green stalks did not curl. I've never cooked with garlic scapes, but I've heard they are a delicacy. Any suggestions?

Me Casa!

Sunrise in Siesta Hills. We got a little rain yesterday and it is supposed to be cooler and rain today. I hope so. Be nice if the monsoons are finally here. It's been so hot!

Garlic scapes as they start to mature. The smaller bulbil is from the undivided garlic bulbs while the larger comes from the cultivated plant that was divided in the fall which allowed it to grow larger. Both have their uses in stir-frys, salads, soups. . .
