I bought these when I was at Loch Fyne Oyster shop (I was trying to find some crabs to draw). They're the stalks of garlic which are taken off before they grow any further to allow the garlic bulbs to develop. Apparently you can slice them up and use these just like garlic.
Does anyone know of any fishmongers with a variety of produce (if possible west coast?)

we just started getting our summer vegetables from a CSA vegetable share... it's a new thing for us and i was hoping to photograph everything, but life has kind of gotten in the way of that.
i had never heard of or seen garlic scapes before; they are the flowers that grow above ground on a head of garlic, and apparently they need to be removed for the heads to grow as large as possible. we had them chopped up on new potatoes with butter and sour cream, pretty basic.
