You don't wanna break me down

You don't wanna say goodbye and

You don't wanna turn around

You don't wanna make me cry but

You caught me once

Maybe on the flipside I could catch you again

Den Haag sky scape

I think once the garlic scapes grow a bit more and begin to curl, I can cut them. The scapes can be eaten, but cutting them also helps the garlic bulb grow.

It's been raining for the last 3 days straight so no chance to shoot. It reminds me of when I first got my camera last summer and it rained for 30 days straight. Anyway keeping with the same theme from last week some more graff n scapes!

Looking up at the Surrey Central City (Simon Fraser University) tower and the "cloudscape" beyond.

I really don't understand why some photos become of popular on Flickr and others don't. I wasn't even going to post yesterdays shot (The Girl in Red) because I didn't think it was that great. It got over 13,300 views. (But only 21 views on Pixel 500.) This one I kinda like, and I bet it gets about 10 views on Flickr. I guess the moral of the story is just shoot what you like and forget about what people like and don't like.

Scape_lands

The “scape_lands“ is a readymade-fotowork series developed since 2010.

The theme is the hermetical law of correspondence (we exist in all planes, astral as well as physical) I discovered the scape_lands in the urban environments, the streets of Berlin.

But today the garden meets the scullery.

Despairing at the abysmal food miles, horrid quality and chemical treatment of market garlic — imported mostly from China and Mexico, I believe — garlic has become a garden staple. What's happening here is new.

There are basically two types of garlic: soft neck and hard neck. Soft neck is the one in those plaits. It likes a warmer climate and doesn't grow a central stalk. Hard neck garlic likes it cold. Winter chilling is said to make the bulbs separate and grow into the cloves we use as a convenient measure. I grow hard neck varieties because, well, winter here gives the autumn-planted garlic plenty of chillin' time.

The central stalk of hard neck garlic is the scape. Traditional wisdom is that when the scapes emerge from the leaves they should be removed so that all the plant's energy is put into the bulbs and not growing whatever it is that scapes grow. I don't know — they always get cut off!

This year those severed scapes will be part of an experiment. Apparently, garlic scape pesto is a thing. Here it is a work-in-progress: a part processed paste of scapes, salt, walnuts and olive oil. Eventually it will be a smooth paste, with the walnuts gobbling up gallons of oil.

Will it work? Maybe. What I can tell from early indications is that there is little likelihood of any vampiric visitations!
