This lone male Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), was seen relaxing on an anthill early in the morning just after sunrise. He later stood up and scanned the savannah plains looking for his breakfast which was no where nearby.
Cheetahs normally sit in a vantage point to view the surrounding area for any small prey which they are quick to chase down.
This lovely male Cheetah was photographed early in the morning in the Musiara area of Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.
~ It was at this moment that I was noticed.
An attempt to take a pigeon out of the air failed, and I was spotted while panning and snapping a series of about 12 shots.

This week's slide is from our family holiday to Paris in 1972, the first time I'd been abroad. It felt a real adventure - we went by hovercraft from Dover and then a train (which I was sick on!) to the great city. This photo is from the only time I've ever been to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Although I loved wearing my bright red shorts, this pink dress was a close second favourite item of clothing!! Although I loved that holiday and often found myself centre of attention with my blonde hair, I was nervous, as I remember I had to return to school a week late in September and I wasn't amused!!
The quality of this photo isn't that good, sadly, and there wasn't much I could do to improve it, apart from getting a long dark mark off my face!

There's nothing like pushing your luck, taken with a long lens in murky conditions on 400 ASA film stock in a 35mm camera 37109 heads away from the Alumina import terminal at North Blyth with the afternoon trip to the Alcan smelter at Lynemouth, an operation that seemed like it would last for ever at the time. Taken in 2004, I have no other information as the accompanying notes for this roll were lost, taken iirc with a 300 or 400mm lens.
Scan from a 35mm colour negative on Fuji 400 ASA stock.
Expired in 2006 - shot in 2013 - developed in 2021!!

Back to my roots for these two pictures, probably the oldest I have scanned! I've just made a photobook for my sister as a Christmas present and have included these photos in it.
Here are Grandma and Grandad Matthews (Elizabeth Ayliffe and George Matthews), my Mum's parents. George died when I was two, but I remember many happy years visiting my Gran - a lovely, lively woman! My Gran was born in Bishopstoke, near Southampton and my Grandad, who owned a grocery store, was born on the Isle of Wight.

Here is the result from a home made 40W lightbulb-tupperware lid-macro lens scanner (which I actually like better) : )
