My objective with the northbound 'Fellsman' charter on Wednesday 18th July 2013 was twofold; firstly to place not too much emphasis on the train, with the diesel locomotive tucked behind the 'Jubilee' (as fire risk assurance) and secondly, to capture the splendour of typical Settle to Carlisle line scenery on a glorious summer's day, in the sunshine but with a cloudscape, such a relatively rare occurrence coinciding with the passage of a steam charter train. I chose the shadow side of the locomotive and train in order to feature the delightful High Scale farmhouse, with Garsdale and Rise Hill beyond. The previous time that I saw this locomotive on BR metals was when it was dumped at Eastleigh depot of all places, in 1964, before transit to Barry scrapyard. It would be interesting to know when it last worked this route? Before withdrawal the 'Jubilee' was allocated to Chester, so may just have wandered that way during 1964 perhaps?

I've posted a number of pictures of Calanais but have always felt that they didn't capture the scale of these stones. In this shot my wife stepped out from behind a stone just as I shot. She's 5'7", or 1 3/4 meters tall. The stone she is next to is more than twice her height, more than 3 1/2 meters tall. One disappointment with this shot is that it doesn't show how dominant the central stone is. It is nearly twice the height of the one my wife is next to. I haven't posted other shots from this angle because I'm unhappy about how I lined up the stones with some unfortunate overlaps. You can, however, see the chambered tomb at the base of the central stone.
From left to right: Harrods Snow Queen Elsa doll, who is 16.5 inches tall. Beast Kingdom Elsa 1/4 scale figure, who is 15 inches tall. Medicom Real Action Hero Elsa action figure, who is 12.5 inches tall. She is wearing the gown of the DFDC Snow Queen Elsa, which is much better than her original gown.
I got the Beast Kingdom MC-005 Elsa 1/4 Scale Figure from Big Bad Toy Store today (Wednesday October 3, 2018). She is made from resin, has an excellent paint job, and stands 15 inches tall to the top of her head, or 16.5 inches to the top of her raised hand, or 18 inches tall on her stand. The base is 9.5 inches in diameter and 1 1/4 inches thick, with a non skid bottom. There is a silver plaque on the base which has the Edition number, 291, which is also on a separate Certificate of Authenticity. But there is no indication of the Edition size.
She is in her iconic Let It Go pose, same as the Maquette and many other figures. She comes in three parts, her body and dress, her cape, and the base. She has to be inserted into the base to stand, and the cape is inserted into her back. She is very stable on the base. There is silver glitter on her bodice and the snowflake and icicle patterns in her cape, and it does shed a little. She is a very accurate and very beautiful depiction of Snow Queen Elsa.
I show her being deboxed, then on the base without her cape, and finally fully assembled with her cape on.

Sorry about the look of concentration; I was struggling to balance on one leg, making sure my head, foot and hand were all in frame and using the remote all at the same time!
Thought I'd better keep the shirt on this time! :-)
This is the oldest active bus in my current fleet of model buses. It's in terrific condition as well. It was build just a few years after I started using an exterior film called monokote that gives it a glossy finish. Before that the exteriors were just posterboard.
Zebrafish scales can give insight into how lymphatic vessels are important for tissue growth and development. This picture of an anesthetized, adult zebrafish was taken using a powerful microscope that uses lasers to illuminate the fish. The image shows fish scales with lymphatic vessels in green and scale structures in blue and magenta.
