One of my favorite indoor exhibits
The exhibit "Feathers & Scales" is a combination of birds, reptiles and amphibians. This view is of a desert scene of southwestern United States including many bird species native to the area. After the zoo closed the "Reptile House" as it was in need of major repairs, they combined the reptiles and amphibians into various other exhibits throughout the zoo. This exhibit has the most and they changed the name of the building to Feathers and Scales - formerly known as "Be A Bird".
Years ago this building housed the penguins until the new "Living Coast" exhibit was built in 1997. "The Living Coast" , home to the Humboldt penguins, is an exhibit showing the coasts of Chile and Peru in South America, where the world's driest desert meets a fertile ocean system.
To give some scale - the foreground is about 2 metres high and the distance from brown edge at the base to the buried tip at the sea's edge is 26 of my manly paces, say 20 metres.

the footholes in the rock are all that remains from the original foundations of the outer wall.
From the edge it's a sheer drop, about thirty metres. Nowadays you navigate with great care up an iron stair case. Try to picture the kings men building this section of the wall to his spectacular palace over 1500 years ago.
The whole project was completed within seven years and professionals estimate the same workforce would take fourteen years to build the palace to the same design - No wonder the Lankans regard Sigiriya as the 8th wonder of the world.
Went with Testors "Ford Grabber Orange" paint and about 4 coats of clear polished.
Added the antenna and plug wires. Also scratch made the air intake hoses. Also lowered the stance a bit as well.
