Picked up this pull back toy at VW/Audi Show and go. Very cheaply made, but makes up for that in style. Pull back works, but tire swap was done and rims covered in some plastic goop.

I've just been doing a clean up of my hard-drive, getting rid of old photos, and came across this photo of a female Adder. I love the diamond pattern of an Adder's scales on it's back and this particular female had very striking colours and markings.
This scale and brick were sitting on a stand that was supposed to offer roasted chestnuts to the patrons on our Main Street holidays events. At Thanksgiving, the word chestnut was covered with a sign that said Wassail. I still found this scene attractive, in a real old skool kinda way. The Leica R4 and Elmar-R 100mm macro lens with HP5+ made for a nice image.

STANFORD, Calif. — Jose Mourinho got exactly what he wanted out of Chelsea's preseason opener. Thanks to a bold debut by Florent Malouda, the manager even got a victory as well.
John Terry and Malouda scored late second-half goals, leading Chelsea to a 2-1 win over Mexico's Club America in the Disney Friendship Cup on Saturday night.
Malouda, who joined the Blues in a $27 million transfer from French champion Lyon on Tuesday, was the unlikely catalyst. He got an equalizing goal in the 76th minute, and Terry then headed home Malouda's free kick for the winner 7 minutes from time.
But Mourinho has no interest in results during this West Coast tour, which includes a meeting with the Los Angeles Galaxy and David Beckham next weekend. Chelsea is instead using its fourth annual U.S. training camp to build teamwork and fitness for next month's Premiership schedule.
"I'm pleased totally," said Mourinho, who made nine substitutions at halftime. "I think it was a very good training session. Club America, they gave us exactly what we need: competition, but competition with quality. We played a good game with good passing, good movement."
Juan Carlos Mosqueda scored in the third minute for America, which put on a strong first-half showing before Chelsea's newest player and its stalwart captain earned a win in the Blues' first match of the summer.
"The side we played was very different than what we're used to," said midfielder Joe Cole, also citing the springy pitch as an added degree of difficulty. "I think it took us a while to get going. ... It was just good to get out of the game with no injuries."
The match at Stanford's renovated stadium against the storied Mexico City side is expected to be the most competitive of Chelsea's three matches during the California swing for England's richest club, which arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Blues then had much of their thunder stolen when Beckham arrived in Los Angeles.
Chelsea will face Korea's Samsung Bluewings on Tuesday back in Southern California in the second Friendship Cup match before next Saturday's much-anticipated meeting with the Galaxy, when Beckham is expected to debut.
"I'm looking forward to seeing him," Cole said of his England teammate. "I know there's going to be a lot of hype around the game. I hope he does well over here and helps soccer grow in America."
The 22-year-old Mosqueda, who scored three goals last year in his debut season with America, found the net early when his right-footed shot from the top of the penalty box deflected off Terry, catching goalie Petr Cech going the wrong way.
Chelsea tied it when America goalie Armando Navarrete bobbled a long ball straight onto Malouda's foot. The winger adroitly tipped it between two stumbling defenders.
Terry then put Chelsea ahead with an exceptional header off Malouda's free kick, diving away from the net before whipping a shot past Navarrete.
Chelsea booster clubs from throughout the U.S. filled the south stands at Stanford Stadium, waving banners and singing. Two sections of the north stands were packed with America's famously enthusiastic fans, who lit firecrackers and released confetti throughout the match.
New transfers Steve Sidwell and Tal Ben-Haim made their first appearances for Chelsea in the first half, along with 18-year-old defender Jack Cork. Mourinho then left only Terry and defender Glen Johnson - back in blue after a year on loan to Portsmouth - in the lineup while bringing on 17-year-old defender Sam Hutchinson and Malouda among the changes.
"You can say we played two good teams," Mourinho said. "Everybody has to fight for a place, and I think they have a difficult task, because everybody is really good."
Santiago Fernandez's goal in the 15th minute was ruled offside as America carried most of the action in a slow first half. The Chelsea substitutes applied much more pressure on America's defense, with Didier Drogba putting a shot just over the crossbar in the 65th minute.
"I think you saw the way we can play," said Drogba, who scaled a small hillside near Chelsea's locker room after the match to greet a cheering group of fans from his native Ivory Coast. "There's a lot of quality on this team."

whereas the general used scales(for example Kamiyas Ryu Zin or Langs Koi) decrease the area by a factor of 1/9 this one decreases the paper size by 1/4 what makes it better useable in complex models, although it may need an extra row of transition-units because the pleats are half of the general size when the scales have the same size.

This is actually about 90% scale to the bow in game. I didn't want it to be enormous and unwieldy. Final weight is about 4lbs.

There's a slight discrepancy between the digital "pounds" scale and the mechanical "stone" scale. This could be a result of uneven spots in the floor, or the mechanical scale being in need of cleaning and lubricating.
I'm looking for another mechanical scale that measures in stone, because this one, which I've had for nearly twenty years, is rusty and is getting temperamental, but the only examples I can find are from sellers in the UK, and shipping costs will be astronomical.

Echis carinatus is a venomous viper species found in parts of the Middle East and Central Asia, and especially the Indian subcontinent. It is the smallest member of the Big Four snakes. Five subspecies are currently recognized.
Size ranges between 38 and 80 cm in length, but usually no more than 60 cm.
Head distinct from neck, snout very short and rounded. The nostril between three shields and head covered with small keeled scales, among which an enlarged supraocular is sometimes present. There are 9-14 interocular scales across the top of the head and 14-21 circumorbital scales. 1-3 rows of scales separate the eye and the supralabials. There are 10-12 supralabials, the fourth usually largest, and 10-13 sublabials
The color-pattern consists of a pale buff, grayish, reddish, olive or pale brown ground color, overlaid middorsally with a series of variably colored, but mostly whitish spots, edged with dark brown, and separated by lighter interblotch patches. A series of white bows run dorsolaterally. The top of the head has a whitish cruciform or trident pattern and there is a faint stripe running from the eye to the angle of the jaw. The belly is whitish to pinkish, uniform in color or with brown dots that are either faint or distinct.
Habitat
Found on a range of different substrates, including sand, rock, soft soil and in scrublands. Often found hiding under loose rocks. Specimens have also been found in Balochistan at altitudes of up to 1982 m
Behavior
This species is mostly crepuscular and nocturnal, although there have been reports of activity during daylight hours.During the daytime they hide in all kinds of places, such as deep mammal burrows, rock fissures and fallen rotted logs. In sandy environments, they may bury themselves leaving only the head exposed. Often, they are most active after rains or on humid nights.This species is often found climbing in bushes and shrubs, sometimes as much as 2 m above the ground. When it rains, up to 80% of the adult population will climb into bushes and trees. Once, it was observed how some 20 individuals had massed on top of a single cactus or small shrub.
Feeding
It feeds on rodents, lizards, frogs, and a variety of arthropods, such as scorpions, centipedes and large insects.[8] Diet may be varied according to availability of prey. High populations in some areas may be due to this generalist diet
Venom
This species produces on the average of about 18 mg of dry venom by weight, with a recorded maximum of 72 mg. It may inject as much as 12 mg, whereas the lethal dose for an adult is estimated to be only 5 mg.Envenomation results in local symptoms as well as severe systemic symptoms that may prove fatal. Local symptoms include swelling and pain, which appear within minutes of a bite. In very bad cases the swelling may extend up the entire affected limb within 12-24 hours and blisters form on the skin.The venom yield from individual specimens varies considerably, as does the quantity injected per bite. About 20% of all bites are fatal

This is a 1:100 scale model of a Commercial Space Station, which we were commissioned to build in 2019. The model features a variety of customized modules, stowage facilities, an airlock, an observatory, a robotic arm and a main solar array. The model is accompanied with replicas of the SpaceX Dragon and Boeing CST-100 supply ships. Later we are going to add to this set a replica of the SpaceX Dragon 2 as well. The model also includes several posed astronaut figurines, designed and customized for us by Mr. Max Grueter.
The model was designed in 3D software, produced by rapid prototyping and manually assembled, painted and decorated.
In this model we implemented the features and technics developed for our models of ISS, which we were building and perfecting since 2008. The model has reliable internal reinforcement system, holding the modules together. Most vulnerable elements are produced from durable materials – metal and nylon. Selected components and supply ships’ replicas have embedded magnets, allowing to reconfigure the station and exercise various docking schemes. The model is mounted with support poles on a black painted base.
The model is designed to be partially disassembled during transport. It is packed in a Pelican heavy duty transit case and can be fast and easily assembled for presentation.
I love the scale of this shot. Just love it! I'm proud of myself here. Lucked out on the focus since I was laying where C is facing me and I put the camera above my head to get the shot. Luckily the IV was in my non-shooting hand. ;)

Thank you all for your kind words and visits. Being the mother to a 2nd child is easier in the sense that you are more familiar with what to do, how to do it, etc... but being the mom to 2 is WOW... I'm trying my hardest to make sure A doesn't feel left out or neglected. So far so good, though at bedtime tonight I was putting them both down at the same time. A seemed bothered that I had her in my arms while we read but I just tried to encourage her to help me read to her.
A few of the better photos from the birth. I didn't get any of the "money" shots I wanted but since it was just the 2 of us and it all happened so quick I can't blame D. He did a fine job. I did see the most amazing shot as I was giving birth... Crazy huh. She looked right at me when she first came out. It was amazing! A special photo I'll always hold in my mind and my heart.
Pineapple had her 2 day check up today and lost only a few pounds at 6 lbs, 11.3 oz (not bad for a bf baby). She is looking a bit jaundiced but the Doc said jaundice tends to peak at day 3 (today) but did have us do a bilirubin test. I'm now nursing around the clock. Every 1.5 hours (or 2 when I'm lucky) which means I'm either changing a wet diaper or burping her somewhere in between.
But boy the hardest part of today was getting 2 kids fed, dressed, and out the door for a 10:10 Dr. Appointment. I hate to be late and we were only late by 5 or so minutes but definitely something I don't look forward to doing again soon.
I switched the camera to ISO auto and left it in P mode for D. I'm not even sure he figured out that he could zoom with the 18-55 lens? The BW don't really "match" but at 2:30 am with a baby on my arm you'll have to pardon that.
Inverted scales to gauge the level of water in the tanks. The fire fighting tank and mechanical system are essential in the running of a big complex. A snap with the M3 and the Nokton Classin 40/1.4 MC, Fujifilm Reala 100 is good for reds.
