Slowly, trees and plants took over the tiles along the gutters, after the Waterloopkundig Laboratorium no longer needed this forest to conduct tests. Volunteers have now cleaned a part. The water model Willemstunnel Rotterdam now shows again how the gutters in the forest are tiled. But paving stones in the woods, isn't that a bit strange?
They laid those tiles here in order to be able to drain the water better during their tests. Those gutters and the water models are valuable remnants of a unique chapter in our hydraulic engineering history. It is not without reason that the Waterloopbos recently received the status of a national monument.
A small project in scale 1:100 for developer Timpaan. Nice scale for this model as it shows just enough details to be interesting from different viewing angles and distances. After the pictures were taken we added some details in the gardens.

Finally primed, but needs some fixing-up before I paint it. There are a couple of pin marks I didn't spot, plus one or two of the welds need sanding back.
1/1200 scale Tacony Palmyra Bridge from Tacony/Philadelphia approach. Wood piles at base of bascule (drawbridge) piers are made of driftwood from under the bridge at Palmyra Cove. The Landscaping is also made of real dredge soil and real rip-rap rock from the real site. Paint matched to a 2007 paint chip. As of 2011, the real bridge has weathered more blue but is supposed to be repainted later in 2011. Model completed in May, 2011.

This is one of Matchbox's Superfast models. It was number 31 in the 1-75 series and was released in 1972. This model has been in my collection since that date. One of the cutest Bugs ever! The eyes have it!
