This photo is part of a series I call "Luinoir". These are photos of my town, Luino (province of Varese, Italy), that I took during the night. I wanted to give them an atmosphere that conjured up that of noir films and comics from the 30's and 40's, hence the title "Luinoir". These pictures are dark, full of deep black: what you can't see is even more important than what you see. I walk around in the middle of the night, with my camera and tripod, in the silence and cold, just like a detective from the 30's...
They were doing a lot of painting around Faringdon today. I noticed for different shops with scaffolding up the walls. I remember in Singapore many years ago, they used bamboo poles instead of steel.
I couldn't resist this shot of scaffolding reflected in the almost completed building. It's one of the new / refurbished buildings at the Open University's Walton Hall campus.
