Magnificent old building in downtown Buffalo NY. Was the main post office for many years and was nearly demolished years ago for a parking lot. Thank goodness for the people who saved it. Aside from the detail and size a building like this could never be built in our current world.A side note I just realized it replaced a former mid 1800s block of buildings. They were not nearly as handsome - they were old brick buildings. It is amazing to me how many times buffalo has been churned over and rebuilt since 1812. Albeit the last 60 years have seen some of the worst land use, senseless destruction, and architecture the city has ever endured. Now this building is the city campus of ECC.
