Hostess Brands, founded in 1919, and maker of beloved Twinkie cakey snacks, went bankrupt in 2004. Thanks to the "Save the Twinkie" uproar, the new owners revived Twinkies.
Today was an organized "Blog in" in blogland in protest of the CPSIA...a law to protect American consumers from toxic goods that is in reality going to put an end to the handmade industry. Read more about it on my blog.

Après sa condamnation, l’Union européenne a dénoncé un procès qui "violait le droit international et les bases élémentaires de la justice"

Panthera, the world’s leading organization devoted exclusively to the conservation of the world’s 37 wild cat species, and the National Geographic Society’s Big Cats Initiative (BCI) have formed an important collaboration to further the global fight to save big cats in the wild. Officials from Panthera, and the National Geographic Society signed a Memorandum of Understanding designating Panthera as a scientific and strategic collaborator on the BCI. The collaboration will facilitate the development and implementation of global conservation strategies for the most imperiled cats around the world, including tigers, lions, leopards and cheetahs.

I am normally in favor of the landowner's right to do what he wants with his property,
but this family from the Netherlands has targeted property on a county line
in what they consider to be a county lax on environmental issues. They have run
into problems in another nearby county and no longer operate a CAFO
there.

I was lucky to find this on the side of a dirt road where loggers where deforesting an area. This maple really meant something to someone.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that not many of us dare to risk our own lives for others, and to think that someone would face death to save the lives of animals is beyond comprehension. But that is what we saw when a natural disaster approached the Safari West Park in Santa Rosa.

Bea (Sherri) did a great job with this - people are telling me they love it. I helped - I converted the tiny 8-bit graphics to Illustrator vectors. Go me.
There's a lot of people we couldn't invite, which is a damn shame. I know they won't take it personally - we can't invite the whole world. The bulk of the guest list is family, natch.
Anyways, for those who for whatever reason can't make the ceremony / reception, something will be going on afterwards. We're not sure what, but it'll be fun.
