Hostess Brands, founded in 1919, and maker of beloved Twinkie cakey snacks, went bankrupt in 2004. Thanks to the "Save the Twinkie" uproar, the new owners revived Twinkies.
Today was an organized "Blog in" in blogland in protest of the CPSIA...a law to protect American consumers from toxic goods that is in reality going to put an end to the handmade industry. Read more about it on my blog.

I heard that Save On Meats was going to be closing it's doors after being in operation since the 1950's. Although the last day probably won't be until March of 2009 I thought I better go and get some more photos of the place just in case!

a little eye candy for the ladies....I think he might have been posing for me hoping I would take his picture, but it worked!
here's a (super) rough sketch of my next tattoo idea. the dotted line would wrap around my arm with this portion on my outer arm. the red area is up in the air, I don't know what I want there yet. this tattoo is supposed to represent my career as an ad man, so an iconic ad? i don't know what yet.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that not many of us dare to risk our own lives for others, and to think that someone would face death to save the lives of animals is beyond comprehension. But that is what we saw when a natural disaster approached the Safari West Park in Santa Rosa.

Bea (Sherri) did a great job with this - people are telling me they love it. I helped - I converted the tiny 8-bit graphics to Illustrator vectors. Go me.
There's a lot of people we couldn't invite, which is a damn shame. I know they won't take it personally - we can't invite the whole world. The bulk of the guest list is family, natch.
Anyways, for those who for whatever reason can't make the ceremony / reception, something will be going on afterwards. We're not sure what, but it'll be fun.

This project required me to choose an issue concerning the environment and it's issues.
The brief stated to choose something such as the threat of global warming, rising pollution by car emission, etc.
I decided to choose the issue of trees being cut down because of corporate companies cutting them down for they're own use or building something new.
I did a lot of drawing, taking photos of trees, grass, etc.
I written the slogan 'Save the trees' before I taken the photograph. I was going to make something out of leaves to put in the public (being site specific), but the idea of the photo and image I thought was better and a stronger final piece.
I made six versions of Save the trees, working with the colour or making it B&W, making the image negative, making the text look like grass, I even considered just using the photograph of the trees.
The final answer had to be site specific, temporary, outside of the studio environment, experimentation of different techniques and materials.

If I should struggle out there in the water, please grab the ring, jump the fence, cross the field (fear not the sheep!) and then throw....
this one is placed a bit funnily; maybe it's been located right there for many years, and the last piece of marshland has been dammed in, without anyone bothering to move the life post.... or maybe it will work against angry sheep, too?

For many years humans have dumped all sort of rubbish into the sea, so much that large areas of our seas are polluted. Oil spilled from ships and oil rigs, poisons let run into the sea from some factories kills fish, birds and ruins beaches. Many creatures are killed every year by pollution. We all can help to save our seas by stop dumping rubbish into it.
