Evgeny Vasilenko from the Moscow Circus at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

"The son of circus performers, Evgeny was born near Krasnodar. As a high school student he split his time equally between English studies and the art of circus, introduced by his father, a head of a local Circus Studio.

The training made him a perfect candidate for the State College of Circus, Russia. His talent manifested itself as an outstanding balance acrobat. In addition to his circus skills Evgeny is a very experienced dancer with skills ranging from classical to Latin, and from jazz to break dance."

Opened in 1907, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is still going strong after more than 100 years. It is one of only three remaining beachfront amusement parks in California (the others being the Santa Monica Pier and San Diego's Belmont Park).
