The northern province of Evros has become the stage of an international stream of refugees and asylum seekers from the third world. The police forces of the EU under the title "Frontex" have the commission to find, document and process the constant stream. The enormous number of refugees (2010 50,000+) has put unbearable strain on Greece's social fabric and has become a major topic in the run-up to the parliamentary elections in 2012. The sample of the fence which is being built to hinder the efforts of refugees to cross the border to Greece.
This 5-mm-wide sample holder features a flat platform for attaching a sample of material, surrounded by three suspended chip sensors that are connected via gold wires to the sample. The sensors include one heater (white in appearance) to supply heat to the sample, and two thermometers (gold in appearance) to measure that heat as it travels through the sample. This sample holder was designed and assembled by Shermane Benjamin.

This is out of order because I forgot that I took this picture.
I ran out of nail polish remover the other night midway through taking off my NMWK, so, since I didn't want to run out and get more remover till the morning, I just sampled some new-to-me colors.
I actually kind of like different colors of different nails. ;)
This is just a hastily-applied single coat of each color. Took this picture the morning after I painted the swatches, right before going out to get remover and re-doing with the mani in my last picture.
small sample using seeding, cross stitch & knots to explore the mix of the different colours. Loved this header card way of mounting. The small pic was on the back of the card I used as my design so I added this over some black 'running' stitch lines.

We put some paint samples up on the back of the garage today to try out possible new colors. From left we've got dancing green, jardin, kiwi, and romaine. There was some significant excitement and disappointment about them so far, but there is a clear frontrunner. We won't make our final decision until we can see them with the sun out, though. Ooh, the suspense!
