Workers sample a section of soil removed from a well site along the shoreline of the Columbia River at the Hanford Site. The sampling helps determine what contaminants are present at different depths in the soil.
Goal: improve handwriting to the point of legibility. So that I can read my own writing. So that I can use what I've written. Because I am a writer. And I'm starting with this.
Scripps Institution of Oceanography researchers aboard R/V New Horizon for the SEAPLEX expedition deployed a manta sampling device, which collects biological specimens from the sea surface area. When fully deployed, the rigid portion seen in the picture will be trailed by a long collection net, appearing as a manta ray as it flows through the water. (August 2, 2009)

I am sampling some silk and merino fiber for spinning. After spinning singles onto a bobbin in three different sections, I cut the three sections of singles apart and wound them tightly onto a plying ball. Then the yarn practically plies itself: let the singles twist back on themselves in a controlled way as I unwind the plying ball again.

2. Convert from Mercator to equirectangular, with setting the latitude to 90 degree.
You will see a dizzy double spiral wave!

Ttura 'Earth' is made from a mix of various coloured recycled glass and two pack epoxy resin with non absorbant fine powder. Once these components are mixed the material is traditionally hand troweled to a depth of approx 6-10mm and is ground to a fine polish using diamond grinding blades which are fed by a constant feed of water and then recycled for further use. The floor has a stunningly seamless aesthetic and is very hard wearing whilst being completely smooth to the touch and under foot. Ttura 'Earth' is naturally slip resistant and is available in any choice of RAL or BS 4800 background resin colour.
