Same bird as yesterday's post, as it hides a seed for later consumption, but by which bird I wonder? You can likely see it tucked under the bark
And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm

I was able to grab a few full body shots through the next, closed window. Of course, as I attempted to open it, the hawk departed, having realized that the songbirds had all dispersed anyway.

I spun the die many times before I got this shot, it wasn't easy to hold a camera and spin the die with your left hand all at the same time!
This alley could be in any major city. Detroit, Los Angeles, New York...the alleys all pretty much look the same. But I wouldn't have shot them.
I can't imagine having the comfort level I have walking the quiet alleyways like I do here. It really is a "there's no place like home" sense of security. It doesn't mean you let your guard down or be blind to the potential hazards. But you just have a better feel for your environment.
As refreshing as it is to go someplace new to re-energize, there's something to be said for the same old same old, too.
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band's 1978 hit rings true as a comparison to the Mainline of Mid-America. Despite life's constant change, one can still make the jaunt to the CN Chicago Subdivision and see glimpses of the former railroad as it was. CN job L555, Gilman to Otto and return, is northbound at Ashkum with the 1034, delivered to the IC a mere 5 months before Canadian National's acquisition.
After the passage of nearly 27 years and with CN's sprawling 20,000 mile rail network, it truly is amazing that a majority of these IC locomotives stay right where they were meant to be - their home.
Please count as one. all are facing Penzance an Newlyn and we walked slowly from Perranuthnoe. I was out of sight of our car so out of my comfort zone yet they didn't reach Flickr....Sue :)
Same drop.....same angle...just little different light perspective.

Rarely see any of these anymore sadly, very good engine in them.

Ok I know I have now shot this place to death, but personally this is my favourite of them all. This was taken on a pretty much non existent sunrise shoot, but it was lovely to get the still lake to get some nice reflections. The leaves on the jetty add something a touch different too I feel, adding a slightly more interesting twist to the classic lakeland scene.

Same owl as before, this is one of his favourite perches when hunting. We were very lucky to get so close.
There are about 12 of these owls regularly spending their winters here and you can often see a few of them at the same time. Unlike most owls they like to hunt during the day.
As this flower in my mum's garden was struggling to bloom out of season, she was doing the same and sadly the fight left in her just wasn't enough, she passed away last week a month before her 83rd birthday. She was my greatest teacher in this school of life.
What are heavy? Sea sand and sorrow.
What are brief? Today and tomorrow.
What are frail? Spring blossoms and youth.
What are deep? The oceans and truth.

Same bird folks but here I thought he was again going to fly, but did not, but still stayed with him just in case. Maybe next time.
"Same Bat time, same Bat channel." This phrase was said at the end of every tv show on the original Batman series. Now it is often used to refer to an occurrence that has an identical time table as a previous one. Interesting how some expressions get started only to become part of our everyday phraseology. I say this because today's post is the same time and place (channel) as yesterday's post.
Take for example the decades old phrase, "the hole 9 yards". Many wonder why it is not 10 yards, thinking the phrase is from football. Rather, it has nothing to do with football and everything to do with the length of ammunition in the wing of a WWII Spitfire. While strafing the enemy, pilots would say, "give him the hole 9 yards."
Same day, 2nd shift train is loading as the sun is quickly setting, ahead of the long drive back to Page and it's lack of restaurants!
A classic view of Seneca Lake from Clute Park, located in Watkins Glen, N.Y., U.S.A. Seneca is the largest of the Finger Lakes and is host to many sailing enthusiasts.

Can't help sharing a bw version of the previous shot: as much as I love colour, 'there is something' in bw...
