While I was out cruising around on my powerchair in Portland, I met Sam.
Sam was out shooting with his recently acquired X100. We chatted for awhile and it turn out that he mostly shoots film, both large format, and medium format with a Bronica.
After chatting, we took each others photo, and went on our way.
A good friend I have known since he was 8 years old (32 years ago). We celebrated his mother's 80th Birthday tonight (he is her youngest child of seven).

Sam enjoys a romp in the foot of snow we got yesterday. She's funny - digging and pushing around the snow so she gets a path through it.

Sam showing off his profile on our walk today. He is finally starting to drop some of his winter coat, although not evident by looking at the dog, it is by looking at the floor LOL.
Hi, this is my 12 year old brother Sam. A little over 3 months ago Sam was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them being children. At this point in time there is no cure for type 1, but we are hoping to change that. So this year we are taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes, a fundraising event to raise money for a cure. In 2010 JDRF managed to raise 86.1 million dollars, all of which went to research for a cure. Let's hope we can make this year even better.

Sam is more of a evening eater than a morning eater but he is on some meds right now for his poor little foot that have to be taken in the morning... with food. So it's become a game to get him to eat a cup or so so he can have his dose. This morning I tried playing with his food to pique his interest. It really didn't work. He was fascinated with what I was doing... but really didn't want to eat it.
Not the greatest photographically but here is Sam (just 4) carefully making his way down the spiral stairs. Most important to him was not to drop his book tucked carefully under his plastered arm.
No this isn't where he broke his arm! He did it running along a flat seaside terrace.
