Sam and I spent New Years Eve constructing an igloo.
Many of the blocks were cut from the snow within the walls. Going down at least 4 layers created a very tall shelter. Standing up was easy as the ceiling was around 8' high.
This shot was taken while Sam slept inside. The illumination is from just 2 headlamps. The city lights of Vancouver are below.
Recently I had talked with Sam about experiences over presents. When we were unpacking inside, he noted that this was an experience. It sounded like he thought this was a good one.
Sam shared the last seven of his fourteen years with us, he was a town dog who came from the rescue and climbed Snowdon the following day. He had snow on his right flank all the way up and on his right on the way down. He didn't look anywhere but straight ahead for the whole day. It took years to get him to enjoy the mountains as he much preferred the fireside.

Sam is one of the rescued eagles at the Elmwood Park Zoo. Due to injuries, they could not survive in the wild. But, they can educate and impress people where they live now!

My son's cat, who, it seems, has taken to terrifying the neighbourhood! Taken with my Lensbaby Velvet, and I would like to have acheived better focus, but I rather liked it! The sinister sweetness of the cat who, yesterday, after coming into the house and purring round our legs, then suddenly, and for no apparent reason, jumped on Baxter and gave him a proper telling off!! Poor little spoiled dog cried and needed a lot of sympathy! I find it hard to get the sort of focus with the Velvet that is possible, so I guess I must practice more...the soft focus can be gorgeous!

Samantha had a successful birthday party with lots of pool time. These are really sweet girls and they were super easy to have at the house!

Mouse that Juju (my aunts cat) brought us. I took him home because I have a big ol cage and so I put some pet-sawdust in it and made him a hut. He sits in there and eats lettuce and squeaks a lot. Totally tame too, which is weird, because he was originally wild. Goes to sleep when I pet him and crap.
