So, Sam. I noticed a new fence between our yards. You do that?
I did. Is there an issue?
Uh, no! As they say, good fences make good neighbors, right?
Actually, Glen, it's not a fence, per se.
No? Well then what is it?
It's a force field. A very powerful one at that.
Force field? What the hell is that?
While, as you say, good fences may make good neighbors, a good force field eliminates neighbors altogether. You see?
Ah, well, hmmm, yeah, I suppose so.
Have a nice day. I recommend not getting too close to the property line. Just to be safe. Capeesh?

This is a sad shot, taken a few days ago of a young lady called Sam who has been coming to us for a little while. She is just losing the last of her young grey feathers which all turn to pink as they grow out of their juvenile stage.
She has not been 100% and in recent times has spent a lot of time just sitting quietly. At the same time, she has been active enough to head off during the day with her friends. Sadly today, she was obviously not so well and would let me stroke her back and neck feathers and did not react aggressively when we decided it was time to get help.
So I took her to the bird vet and as a wild bird, if they are able to be rehabilitated, they are treated and given to carers to return to the area from which they came. So in the end I don't know what the outcome has been for poor little Sam. They are good vets who we have dealt with since 1985 but I do fear for her.
As you know, pets all get to that stage of being ill at some time but when you are dealing with many wild birds like we do, you are bound by certain laws and it's not even easy to bring them home yourself. She is a really beautiful young bird, I can only hope they were able to help her.
Sam Spinelli…….he’s “the man”. You need a car, Sam’s got ya covered. You need a “good” car for a “low” price………..fur’getta-bout’it.

I put a hell of a lot of time and effort into my “artworks” and if someone is merely going to use my pictures as a platform for making wise ass comments and jokes, go somewhere else. I am not speaking for just myself, I am speaking for ALL artists who puts in his or her time, talent and creativity into creating something of an artistic nature. If you don’t possess the knowledge and insight to understand the time and talent that an artist (ANY artist) puts into their work, don’t say anything at all! Simply saying something like, “I like the red color" or "I like the reflection of the cloud on the car" doesn’t cut it in my book……………
Visited two new waterfalls today as the autumn season begins in western North Carolina. This is Sam Branch Falls. What a beauty! The hike is a bit difficult and you'll definitely get your legs wet. Rocks are very slippery so take care in moving around.
The trailhead is located on NC215 north of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It isn't a long hike. The start requires a short but very steep scramble uphill. To get to this vantage point, you'll need to go left off the trail and descend somewhat steeply to the water.
Fall colors are just beginning along the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville and should peak soon at Graveyard fields. NC 215 is starting to look pretty nice.

This photo of Sam & Patches popped up on my memories on my iPhone yesterday. It brought a tear to my eye.
We re-homed brother & sister in 2014. They were just 5 years old.
The people who had them before us never told us when they were no longer wanted.
They were loved and wanted at our house.
Unfortunately Sam passed away in January 2022, and Patches in August 2022.
They were two beautiful and brilliant dogs. We loved them to bits. They went everywhere with us.
We love Herbie just the same way, and we got him when he were 9 weeks old in January 2023.
Later this year we plan to re-home a brother or sister for him.
This photo was taken on a new year break in Wales, just as we arrived at Dinas Dinlle beach.
Sam and I spent New Years Eve constructing an igloo.
Many of the blocks were cut from the snow within the walls. Going down at least 4 layers created a very tall shelter. Standing up was easy as the ceiling was around 8' high.
This shot was taken while Sam slept inside. The illumination is from just 2 headlamps. The city lights of Vancouver are below.
Recently I had talked with Sam about experiences over presents. When we were unpacking inside, he noted that this was an experience. It sounded like he thought this was a good one.
Sam shared the last seven of his fourteen years with us, he was a town dog who came from the rescue and climbed Snowdon the following day. He had snow on his right flank all the way up and on his right on the way down. He didn't look anywhere but straight ahead for the whole day. It took years to get him to enjoy the mountains as he much preferred the fireside.
