We do things a bit differently over here. This fine boat spends its time at the Ekdalen bus stop along Sorundavägen in Tungelsta.

50" x 70", oil/canvas I worked in a shop like this..... sold.

These ceramic tiles created in 1972 by artist Athos Bulcão for the former downtown Clube do Congresso building, demolished in 2009, were restored as the façade of the SESC 504 Sul building.

Original kitbash model by Sig Henriquez, posted in the Starship kitbashing Facebook group. I loved his design so much I had to build a Lego version.

When the Empire "rediscovered" the Aurora system 200 years after the Event, they were stunned to find a thriving interplanetary trade. Gravitational anomalies caused by naturally occuring Cavorite had enabled local space travel without microcomputers.

The Kraken is a typical Auroran salvage ship. Its crew scours the system for valuable wreckage, carving out a precarious existence on the margins of the space trade.

For more photos, see the full set.

It's my first SHIP, and I wasn't sure I'd get it done for SHIPtember and ready for BrickCon. For first-time SHIP-builders, I definitely recommend minifig scale, it's easier to detail. And it can't be strong enough!

Lots of playability: Captain's bridge under the removable roof; pivoting engines for maneuvering; playable harpoon and cranes; five minifigs; and a separate mini-tug and space surfboard. It's about 105 studs and sturdy enough to rest on one central stand.

I dunno what genre to call this. There's brass, but it's not Steampunk; there's a smokestack, but it's not Dieselpunk. A lot of the general inspiration is from Treasure Planet and Tintin. You tell me what it is! :)

Sacrilege I know...

BNSF 6531 and company hold back the rear end of CEMEX's Victorville to Vernon rock train, as Union Pacific's North Platte skirts over the Summit curve.

And while yes I know DPU pictures re viewed as being sacrilege by some this was the take away shot from this meet. The headend power from the rock train blocked out the North Platte's headend just barely slightly higher elevation would have proved to be more useful here for situations like this.

The severely cold winter last year killed our towering Butterfly Bush. Freeze went nearly five feet into the ground...many plants and bushes didn't survive.

That has meant a dearth of hummingbird appearances this year, and that's sad; they are so fun to watch. Not wanting to go without some photos, I dipped into the discard pile to find a shot I might use. Perhaps not up to usual standards, but not too bad.

Coincidentally, from exactly one year ago today.

While walking down 1800 block of W. Grand Avenue, we spotted the Salvage One sign. We walked into what is the back of the building at 1840 W. Hubbard St. that serves as both a retailer of salvaged material and events space. The building totals 60,000 square feet.

Taken at a now defunct junkyard,oh and yes,i was still treating my dslr like a overpriced point & shoot...

Salvage, NL

Out for a little scoot (drive) along the Eastport Peninsula on a beautiful Spring day! Salvage is such a pretty little town.. I notice the ice in the bay is almost all gone, some repairs are being done on the wharf, the little church is undergoing some renovations & it was "a great day on clothes".

This is my preliminary round entry for 2021's Biocup. The theme I chose was salvager Pohatu. He's found all sorts of scrap, all piled up on his back, along his quest for his elusive golden Kanohi, which he acquired, but only after having to replace some of his equipment with some scrap he found lying around.

Another photo from my most recent visit to West End Salvage & Coffee. It's the only place in town where you can get a decent macchiato, buy some antique bowling pins, and get a great deal on a bushel basket of old pine cones.

Gather round folks. It's story time!

In the distant future far past the age of robots and flying cars, the world nearly ended. Global temperatures soared higher than anyone could remember, the icecaps melted and a great flood encompassed the entire globe. Trillions perished beneath the crushing depths of a new world ocean.

But not all was lost. From the ocean erupted hundreds of small islands. The islands floated far above the water as if then were lifted by balloons. Over the next few centuries, the few survivors began to colonize the islands. Life was far more primitive with the technologies of their ancestors buried deep under water.

As time went on, Salvagers began diving for treasures of the ancients to build airships. Those airships made travel between the islands possible.

Salvager's Rest is an island for Salvagers to, well, rest and also sell their treasures to the Merchant. Fishermen, farmers, mechanics and more also call Salvager's Rest home.

Builder's notes:

I really like this little story I've come up with. I might just build a few more things and continue building the lore a bit. Also, please excuse the dust. This thing has been sitting on my desk for over month waiting to be posted. The procrastination is strong with this one.
