📍 SALVAGE STATION EVENT
I was trying out a new-to-me semi-spot meter (4 degrees) while shooting this roll of Delta; this was the only image that was passable due to my poor judgement of trusting the meter without pre-calibration (here I used sunny 16). All the other shots were at least 2 stops overexposed. It's awhile since I used Delta for 35mm, and it shows.

(pronounced with a hard "A" i.e."Salve-Age") This fishing village is situated in a ruggedly beautiful setting. This view is from one of several good trails.
A spot I've wanted to try for a long time that comes with it's challenges. There's not much traffic for one challenge and it often is on one of the tracks up against the wall as this one is. Most of the through traffic on NS bypasses this line due to it not having high enough clearances for stacks and auto racks. And then there's the Gingko trees which bring a lot of shadows with the color they bring in the Fall. The normal train to shoot here is the Allegheny Valley's daily transfer to NS. After shooting that returning to Glenwood on this same track I heard about this empty 861 hopper train that was in Conway and would come this way with a crew called for 2:30. With sunset being at 5:03 that seemed like it would be enough light to be worth a wait. It ended up being a 3 hour wait showing up at 4:58 with pretty dark skies. Fortunately the Gingko's light up the scene enough to salvage it. Pittsburgh's North Allegheny Commons Park West 11/13/2024.
On this bright sunny morning I should have headed into the forest but this Lazuli Bunting was sitting there amongst the light green leaves of the Acacia tree and it seemed such a nice backdrop. I had to do a lot more processing than I like to do but I got a nice image out it and a reminder to not shoot during the bright sun. It is pouring rain right now.
On this particular outing we made an early morning gamble to shoot the local between Mingo Junction and Conway. The plan was to shoot that job, then have a nice easy drive back home. Unfortunately due to trackwork that plan did not come to fruition, and we got skunked on the local. Trying to salvage what we could, we decided to head over to the Bessemer to see what was happening. Lucky for us a misc run to Butler had happened, and we chased them on the return journey between Oneida and Kremis. This did make for a much later return home that night than originally planned, but I'd say this was worth sticking around for.

Tried to see if I could save this. In the original, you could barely see the flowers. It was so dark. Wanted to see what Topaz adjust, simplify and noise could do for this.
Back in November, I had a free Saturday, so I headed for Hoosac Tunnel. Obviously that was a bust (I know...shocking, right?), so I headed for West Springfield, hoping to catch Q425's departure to salvage the day.
Alas, all I got was a yard job. At least the lighting worked.
